OXO SoftWorks 12" Stainless Steel Box Grater, Black

This was my first time ever purchasing a cheese grater! I had used them when I was younger and in the kitchen with my stepmother, when I thought it was “fun” 🙃 I cooked my first Thanksgiving dinner this year for my family, as my mother was placed in a nursing facility earlier this year. Normally when I make anything needing shredded cheese I just buy the pre shredded bags. However, I wanted to really put effort in this year…so I purchased the cheese grater! I thought it was a little pricey when I first looked them up, but after further looking the price was pretty in line with others. I really liked the design with the little box attached at the bottom to give me an idea of the amount shredded as I went along. I used it in a glass stovetop, on top of a small paper towel to catch any that may have fell out, and I had no issues at all with it slipping, falling back, or sliding away from me…very sturdy in my opinion. I was very hesitant to spend the $ not knowing the quality and knowing I didn't have time to get another one; however I am very pleased with my purchase!! And will most definitely continue to grate my own in the future!

This is way better than the Farberware one I had before which the handle kept falling off. Stainless steel is durable so I know this will be good for a while. Only downside is that the handle is plastic so not the best option for a handle but seems to be sturdy so far. I've grated cheese, onion, and potato with no issues so far. It's sharp enough and stays sharp. The little container for cheese at the bottom is not really useful in my opinion unless you're not grating a lot..

I bought this as a gift, because I've owned this very grater for a few years. It's sturdy and I love the “box”'that measures grated cheese for me. It even has a lid l,so I can prep cheese ahead of time and pop it in the fridge. OXO products are some of my favorite kitchen tools.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my new OXO box grater with the non-slip base and container for collecting grated food! After finally retiring my 40-year old, rusty box grater, I was beyond pleased with the design of this box grater (a bit more compact than my old one) and with its lidded container for the grated food. I've only grated cheese thus far, but look forward to further grating adventures. Highly recommend.

Good quality and easy to use. The container is not useful the or me... it's awkward and you still get grated cheese mess, so I immediately threw that part away.
