Dolby Vision at a good price.

Ramon March 4, 2026

This is an excellent 4K UHD player that provides all the essential features at a great price. Every 4K film I throw at it looks incredible, both Dolby Vision and HDR 10. If all you're looking for is a good player with Dolby Vision and don't need stuff like streaming apps or the extra features of the UB 820 then this is the player to get.

Great player and value for money

Ams0306 January 1, 2025

I know every enthusiast wants to buy the UN820, but this is a great value for money and a very solid player. 4K check.. Auto switch between HDR10 and Dolby vision check.. Upscaling to 4K for blu rays and dvds check.. half price of 820 check.. more reliable than x700m check..

Great Dolby Vision UHD Player

anonymous December 20, 2024

Great player for the price, has dolby vision and Atmos. Compared to the Sony x700/x800, it auto switches to dolby vision which is nice. I don't see the need to get a UB820 when this is available (some people will complain about the lack of HDR optimizer but I can't see how that is worth the extra $200, go for it if you have deeper pockets).

THE best bang for your buck budget UHD 4K player

Eamon December 18, 2024

After spending a few days watching movies in my collection with my new Panasonic DP-UB450, I can say that this is a player with almost no flaws for its price point. Now that it's available in the US, this should be the budget player you're looking for, especially if: 1. Your 4K TV has Dolby Vision capability 2. You haven't already invested in a large DVD/1080p Blu Ray movie collection 3. You have a TV, such as an OLED, that delivers amazing HDR image With a terrible market for 4k players in 2024, I truly believe Panasonic is the only budget brand you should be purchasing. It's the only one that doesn't have issues with freezing and stuttering while playing certain 4K discs (over 100GB in size). The question is just which model to buy. So if your TV does have Dolby Vision and your movie collection is largely 4K UHD and not 1080p Blu Ray, this UB450 player is an absolute dream. It's affordable and seamlessly switches between Dolby Vision and HDR10 settings depending on which one your disc supports. This player has no frills and all of the features. Films look absolutely beautiful in DV and HDR on an OLED television. You may want to consider one of the Panasonic 4K players that has the resolution up-scaling technology if you have a lot of Blu Rays (The UB420 if your TV doesn't have Dolby Vision, or the UB820 if it does). Both of those players also have better build quality (if that's important to you) and better HDR processing technology if your TV doesn't excel at that already. If your home setup ticks off all the three boxes that I listed, this player is absolutely for you. Especially if your TV has Dolby Vision and you want a player that's a lot more affordable than its $500 counterpart, the UB820.

Totally worth the upgrade

Wylder June 18, 2026

In the past few years I have gravitated to upgrading my movie collection to 4K. The unfortunate thing I've run into with 4K is how much problems it seems to have with skipping ad pausing, sometimes unplayable disks. Everyone online keeps saying you just need to clean the disks which work sometimes but it's a hit and miss. I heard about this player and thought this was the last thing I haven't tried yet to remedy the situation. I have to say I'm so overjoyed at the night and day difference this was. I even took a disk that was badly skipping on my old player and used it as a test run on this player. Not one pause or skip at all. And the picture quality is definitely an upgrade. So thankful this player has relieved all my anxiety from collecting 4k

Great Value (no pun intended)

Eric July 1, 2026

Simple, reliable and good enough for my use case - reading everything on a 4K UHD disc. Compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10 , HDR10, HLG on the visual side as well as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS HD Master Audio on the audio side. If you have an older 4K TV and a substantial Blu-ray or DVD collection that will be upscaled, consider the Panasonic 820, or even the Panasonic 420 if you don't need Dolby Vision.

The menus and the detailed information during playback is lacking compared to Sony. Also, it's great that it can switch Atmos video and HDR automatically. However, at this day and age, how can it be missing Bluetooth capability or Wi-Fi?

Best value UHD Player.

Daniel July 10, 2026

Great performance for the price! I switched from a Sony X700 and it's so nice to 1) not freeze or skip on triple layer BD-100 discs and 2) have Dolby Vision turn off and on accordingly. The physical size was about the same as my X700, as opposed to the BD820 that would have been much wider. The biggest knock against it is it the cheap little remote it comes with. Meh build quality and no sub-title button!

Overheats.

Sullivan May 2, 2026

Unit overheats within an hour or so and you cannot finish a movie. Apparently Panasonic has a reputation for overheating units because of how small they are and there's no ventilation or room for the components to breathe. Poor product and poor customer service. Things aren't made like they used to be.

Doesn't work at all...

Carl February 16, 2026

Absolute garbage. If I could give it zero stars I would. Won't play brand new 4K discs (says disc not compatible), slow or no-response from remote. I can't even make it through one movie without it crapping out and not being able to play the disc. Not sure what they were thinking. Stay away.
