Great Value
This is one of the best values for surf fishing, with a 10' length, two-pieces (easy to transport), and up to a 5 oz lure weight rating. The fast action gives a better option for bass and perch than the slower action salmon and steelhead rods that are typical for this size. Going to try to hook into some stripers this weekend.

Over all very pleased. The only thing I'm unsure of is where the two pieces come together at the first eye. Haven't caught one big enough to really test it. So far I really like it and will buy another one.

Use mainly for surf fishing second and third guts at the coast. Works really well using 5 oz. Sputnik weights. Handled 3 ft blacktips extremely well. Has strong backbone and tip sensitive enough to feel the bite. Excellent rod for the price!

penn fishing gear is top quality, even for their lower priced rods and reels. i have quite a few of their more expensive products and they have never let me down. this rod is a birthday gift for a good friend. he seems to have issues with cheaper gear that he uses and i wanted to get him a nice rod and reel for him...

It's a Penn. Known worldwide for their rods and reels. Only negative is that this is an older model. The current model is a Prevail III. If you don't care, then you'll save a bit of money. Anyway it's still a great rod!!!

Very sturdy and well made. Perfect for off shore fishing here in the panhandle of Florida.

it was a good reel, only issue was it had a broken tip. i specifically said make sure it wasn't whencordering for delivery and it arrived damaged. the rod also seemed a bit too stiff and poor quality for some reason. i ended up getting ugly stick carbon.
