the first one came with a broken tip . but the replaced it before i even sent it back. and its been nothing but perfect sonce then. paired it with a kastking megatron 3500. for lures and sabikki fishing

Best Rod Ever
One of the best on shore fishing rods. Last for ever if taken care of. Caught it on sale for black Friday 15.00 dollars less. Should have went ahead and bought two of them on sale.

Very good quality to start with, as is the norm for Penn. I'm using Penn Spinfusher 4500 with this rod which handles Trout, Redfish, Flounder, etc. and most anything else the bays throw at me. I prefer the 7.5' Squadron III, medium fast over the medium light fast. Gives me accuracy when sight casting, better feedback as to what the bait is doing as well as when strikes hit. Keep tight lines guys and the grill ready....

Bought it for the price. You couldn't bet the price of the rod. Will put it to use this April getting my boat reay

Disappointed in Penn Quality.
Rod snapped in half after second use after a hard jerk by a 5lb catfish. The way it snapped strongly suggests a manufacturing defect. It was a clean break just forward of the first guide. Penn gear always cost more than other brands. Presumably due to higher quality. This fishing rod clearly doesn't match Penn's reputation.
