Pennington Ultra Double Nut & Fruit Blend, Wild Bird Seed and Feed, 10 lb., 1 Pack, Dry

GREAT BIRD FEED!! I feed the birds every morning in my backyard around 7 a.m., if I am not on time, I don't see any birds. As soon as I open the door, the birds coming flying in, sitting on the fence and gate, so you know it MUST BE GOOD. I even see a squirrel or two gathering the nuts from the blend.

My husband has several hobbies and the wild birds are one of his favorites the past few years. It started when we had a very hard winter and a lot of snow that lingered for a couple of weeks. It was too deep for the little birds to find food and I think it was the first time he ever even noticed birds before. He was in a lot of distress and worried about the little ones starving so I sent him to the store for bird seed. As the days went n the sun finally melted and I saw he was still feeding the birds. He said he was just finishing up the bag of seed he had bought. A week or so later he was still feeding him and he said he thought it was the same group of little birds were coming every morning, waiting on the power lines for him. I told him if he didn't stop now they would start bringing their friends but he just can't let an animal go hungry. He now has bird feeders all over the yard and I spend about $125 a month on bird seed. The fruit and nut blend here is their favorite and brings the greatest combination of types of birds.

I have been using this for years and the birds love it. I also buy the same brand that is just for song birds, but it seems to have lots of sunflower seeds (which are eaten by most birds, but not always their favorite). It comes in a green trimmed bag similar to the purple bag shown. This nut and fruit costs a bit more, but it has a variety of seeds that all the birds who visit will look for their favorite. I get sparrow, robins, towhees, finches, doves and pigeons etc. The lesser finches (tiny) prefer the shelled sunflower seeds and thistle seed I buy separately

The extra nuts actually prevent waste in my Bird Buddy feeder. With the regular Pennington Wild Bird Seed, the Grackles would knock the smaller seeds out of the feeder tray looking for the larger seeds and nuts which created waste. However, this doesn’t happen as much with this type of seed. I plan on subscribing to this particular type since it works so well in our feeder.

I really like using this blend due to the low/no mess and no sprouting seeds below my feeder. Time between feeder refills is longer since the birds are not throwing filler seed to get to "the good stuff". Worth the price when you figure how much is wasted with other cheaper messy "filler" filled seed. Every so often, a large nut or fruit chunk blocks a bottom slot in my Squirrel Buster feeder but a good shake usually will dislodge it when I go to refill.

This fruit and nut bird seed blend assures me of great bird watching. The birds actually fight each other over some of the peanuts, sunflower seeds and bits of cherry. A dozen different birds enjoy this mix. The woodpeckers come in for this blend as well. What I like about this is there is NO MILLET. I've bought other blends that were cheaper and after a couple days of feeding there is millet left on the railing and feeders. They don't eat it. If I sprinkle some on the deck railing it has also brought the adorable chipmunks up for a visit. This seems to be a better quality seed and birds love it, but it does cost a bit more than it seems like it should.

They have jumped the price up so much it’s almost unbearable. But to not even send a good product is just terrible. This is the “Nut” and Fruit blend and there is not 1 peanut in the bag. There’s hardly any sunflower with the shells. And the sunflower chips are mostly dust. This is the second time I’ve received a bag like this.

I have been buying Pennington birdseed from Walmart for 3 years now and tons of it this is the first time I opened a bag that was full of alive moving worms it was so gross!!! Unfortunately Google said throw it away so I did but I should have thought first and kept it outside and returned it to Walmart but I do pickups only and I didn't want this opened worm bag of food in my vehicle so I'm out the money and food and this was a treat for my chippys because I buy 40lb bags of the dove and quail food usually and feed a lot of birds outside a lot of food so mad and disappointed this was kind of a splurge treat item I'm on a strict low income budget.......

"Ultra" is a gross exaggeration!! This us a complety different product from my previous orders. The amount of sunflower seeds and peanuts is minimal, there is NO fruit, and the rest is small bits of grains that the birds leave behind. Plus, the price is substantially higher. Very surprised at Pennington's quality.

I received it today and it looks NOTHING like the picture! I have bought fruit and nut before. What I have is a bag of smashed up tan tiny nuts, mostly powder in the bag! And some larger nuts, not many, no fruit whatsoever. Returning to store for refund. Nothing but powdered mash now. What happened?
