Works fantastic. I've used this to suck oil out of my lawnmower. I've also used this to put new transmission fluid into my Nissan frontier. You have to put new fluid in through the dipstick. It is far down there. Funnel is not practical. This takes longer period of time but eliminates the mess.
I got this to empty a large fish tank, we were replacing the flooring underneath it. It attracted me by the price. It worked great after priming the tubing!! I was able to empty the tank 5 gallons at a time right into a bucket, with no mess or spills. Great little item to have!!
I use this for changing the oil on my lawn mower and snowblower. It works good for that and doesn't leave a mess behind. I just wish the hose was a little harder, so it doesn't form crimps, which sometimes happens. I got about 5 years out of the last one but eventually the bulb becomes too hard to even squeeze. It seems that they addressed that issue as this one is much softer than the last one.
Unfortunately this item was not intended for my usage as it is expected to be used with Oil and I was looking to use it with water. Hence I returned it.
Dishwasher stopped draining, this pump completely removes all excess water quickly. Be sure to clear any debris from the strainer to facilitate a quick syphon.
This siphon didn't work for me, probably because I tried to use it straight out of the package. The hose is coiled and stayed coiled even after coiling it the opposite direction. I probably should have straightened it under books or something to weight it down. The length is specifically why I bought this particular item as I needed to siphon water from my water softener container which is a narrower version of an outdoor trash can. But as I stated, the hose wouldn't reach the bottom quarter of the container because of the coiling.
Wish I bought the more expensive one that the pump is at one end, so only have one hose to deal with. It does get the job done, but it's frustrating. The hoses always coil up can't get them to stay straight, even after you try to stretch them. I did see after, if I put it in a pot of boiling water first the hoses would stay straight, but I haven't tried that yet. I likely would have scored it better if I tried that first, maybe.
Looked forward to using this siphon, but could never get the hose uncoiled enough to use. I tried bending it, stretching it and even heating it, while pulling it straight, but it just curled back up again like a slinky. Unless, you have 3 hands, one to hold each end of the hose straight and one for the pump, your out of luck.
I just needed it for one simple job. Saw the name brand price was reasonable. the one way valves in the pump ball did not function at all also the ball was so limp it would not draw fluid back into it. the hoses were so stiff that you could not get the curl out of them. I wanted to return it but it had transmission fluid in it and did not feel like dealing with having to drive down to my local Walmart. Really ***** me off.
This iscdesigned to vacuum OIL. however, even 400 mile fresh oil appears to be too thick? when you squeeze this bulb, it is too thin anf soft to return to its round state, staying collapsed and therefor NOT moving oil! It somply doesnt work! Very disappointed, I spent LESS at Napa for a hand-diaphram pump with hose that worked perfectly!
