This is a wonderful "head harness" for large dogs who like to pull... My Staci (Great Pyrenees/Labrador Retriever Cross),who I rescued from our local Humane Society now weighs 108 lbs. With my bad back and now arthritic knees, it made it impossible for me to take her for walks... With this collar, Staci is perfectly under control ...
He walks like a prince!!! No pulling. Loose leash. A miracle! With our 85 lb 2 year old Irish setter.
I am short and have 2 Silver Labs 80 lbs each and a 3rd dog t-lbs. It is impossible to walk them without a gentle leader.
These are great and I am using them on my second generation of dogs. Halti sells a leash that allows you to connect one end to the head harness and another end to the body harness.
Gentle leader dog halter was developed by the head of the AKC %26 a top vet for caring, loving and humane training. It is an excellent product when used correctly. Watch the youtube how-to's and McCann Dog trainers to correctly use with your dog to help them learn how to walk beside you calmly. As with all good things: Must first train self to understand HOW to correctly use.
My dog was challenging to handle until trying the gentle leader. This has been a major game changer! She does not pull now and it has greatly improved the quality of our walks. Additionally, this has made the visits to the vet easier to manage. The only challenge is that she frequently gets the leash between her front feet because she steps over the leash. Regardless, this is a small challenge to handle when compared to her previous pulling! I'm so glad I gave this a try
Fantastic product. My dog quickly adapted and quit pulling. It's now a pleasure to take her for a walk. I have two now, one for each dog. They allow me to easily walk both at once. They are spaniel mixes, so want to wander off and explore. They can now sniff to their heart's content as we walk, but not pull me with them or suddenly take off in two different directions and hurt my arms and shoulders.
I have a Great Dane and the color is well very thin for such a large dog. It works but the bridge on the nose needs more material to spread and deities rubbing. I think 3/4” to 1” with a nice patch of leather would be more suitable for larger dogs. Our Dane is 160 lbs and I can finally keep under control when he sees other dogs. He is very trainable, and does well in private, as he gets older I imagine this leader not being needed but has helped tremendously. A bit larger next size would be helpful as he is maxing it out and again a “pad patch” for the bridge of the nose section.
Worked in the first 24 hrs unfortunately I ordered the wrong size and it rubbed the top his snout raw. But it worked better than anything else for leash training. Defiantly had to watch the instruction video bc it's complicated to do by the instructions, I thought my pitty was gonna fight me on getting it on but he was a lil resistant at first but nothing like I thought
Returned. My dog kept getting it off her face. I can't have that happen when I'm walking her as she is reactive!
