Easy to put together!
this was easy to put together.. i just needed something simple to introduce the chickens to nesting..
This is a simple, solid unit, handsomely designed. I like the fact that it is wooden. I painted mine so that it would have extra protection from moisture, since I plan to use it outside in a chicken run. (see the pictures). It costs less than most nesting boxes with three compartments, although I am not sure of the value for the price. However, it ended up costing me half price since I was sent two while I only ordered one, and Walmart said I should not return the extra one…
I was looking for a laying box for our two hens and this was the perfect size for us as we are starting small with just two hens. Plus the price was very reasonable. Normally I wait for my husband to put things together for me but me and my 5 year old put this together in less than 10 minutes. The quality is great and sturdy too. Plus the chickens had plenty of room in each of their sides.
The cutesiest nesting boxes I’ve ever seen. I bought 2 of the 3 nesting boxes Incase I wanted to stack, but they fit perfectly in my coop. Of course, if the 6 nesting boxes, the only lay their eggs in 1. 😂🤷♀️ I have zero complaints so far
I really loved everything about this Product. It was easy put together parts, step by step. Chickens loved it so much, I decided to buy again. Great Product. By the way, did I mention all you need tool is included.
It looks really nice and it's solid. Assembly instructions are good, but should encourage you to drill pilot holes for the small screws. The structure is on the small side for my guinea fowl and so far they are curious (they stick their heads in and roll the token egg around!) but haven't used it. I have it in their outer pen and will try it inside their coop.
Overall, this product has been very good for my chickens. It was super easy to assemble and has done a pretty good job of keeping their nesting area dry. Collecting eggs is also super easy and I'm very happy with the nest box overall. Only potential negative thing I would have to say is the partitions between the nests don't really offer as much privacy as I think some chickens might expect, or be used to… I might just have spoiled chicken chickens overall, this product has been very good for my chickens. Too small for chicken to nest and lay eggs. I modified it and turned it around so the back was the front. It was on clearance, so the price I paid was fine, I was willing to give it a try. If you need it for a nesting box or a place for hens to lay eggs, don't waste your money, because it's way to small in height and width.
It’s cute to look at! The nesting box is ok. It should be deeper to keep bedding from getting knocked out easily. It smells terrible at first. I let it sit outside for awhile before putting it in the coop. It was easy to put together. Only took a few minutes. The back would probably leak if it isn’t sitting under a roof. The back doesn’t meet the top well enough to seal it. I would like it a little bigger.
