Awesome Electric Toothbrush for Kids!

SarahKat November 11, 2015

The Philips Sonicare For Kids Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush has been such a great addition to our morning and evening tooth brushing routine! My 8-year-old rushes to do nearly everything, and brushing his teeth was not excluded. We’ve been on him for months to brush longer and more correctly, and the Philips Sonicare Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush made brushing fun and more effective for him! He has extremely ridgey teeth, so stains are very noticeable. We have observed a distinct difference in the appearance of his teeth in the two weeks he’s been using the Sonicare brush. He absolutely loved the fact that he could decorate his own toothbrush as well. As parents, we are thrilled that this toothbrush was designed for better plaque removal and increased brushing time. I have a Sonicare for adults and the vibration is pretty intense. This kid version wasn’t nearly as intense and hasn’t bothered him one bit. The toothbrush came in a nice package, was already charged and ready to use. The charge holds for quite some time and constant recharging is not necessary. The charging stand is nice and compact so it’s no problem to either store it or leave it out in the bathroom as it is discreet and takes up little space. Overall, this is an obvious purchase for any child in your home if you’re looking to ensure an effective brushing experience.

Great Toothbrush

l8dluck November 16, 2015

This was the perfect toothbrush for my little one who is just getting her first adult teeth. It appeals to those tech savy kids and gives them that extra nudge to not only keep brushing but brush well. There is an app that compliments the toothbrush. The toothbrush has Bluetooth and the Bluetooth connection allows the app to communicate with it while your child is brushing. While the app is open your child is prompted to brush to make its new pet friend happy and earn rewards and treats for it. When your child begins to brush, a diagram of the mouth appears on the screen. The mouth is divided into four areas and each time your child finishes with the allotted time for that area the toothbrush beeps. This will help them get used to how much time they are supposed to be spending brushing and the proper technique to brush. The app is so sophisticated that it detects if your child just stops brushing before the time has expired; it will ask if they want to stop brushing and encourage them to continue because brushing will make their pet happy. All in all, it's a great new spin to brushing. On top of that, the toothbrush is easy to customize with a removable face plate and many different skins. My child loved picking out hers. My only disclaimer, please make sure that the iPod is safely propped up by the sink or away from the sink. Kids will be kids.

Great toothbrush for kids

lhartness November 20, 2015

Many members of my family have enjoyed Sonicare toothbrushes, and I’ve wanted my younger son to have one for some time. The trouble is, he struggles with hypersensitivity to touch, also known as Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). In severe cases, those with SPD can’t even stand in a strong breeze without feeling uncomfortable. My son’s condition isn’t that severe, but he does feel things stronger than the rest of us. He’s the most ticklish kid I know, and if his socks aren’t on just right, he can’t wear them. I was thrilled to see that the new Sonicare for Kids has options that work well for him. It has its usual learning period, where the user is given about a week to get used to the power of the brush on their teeth and gums. In addition to that, it also has a high and low setting available, so that he can keep it on a lower power for the long term. As he’s a bit older at age 10, he wasn’t interested in the stickers that came with the brush, but the iPhone app option is pretty fun. This makes a great choice for young, first-time users of Sonicare products, and I’m very happy we have this tool for our child.

Sonicare toothbrush for kids - Bluetooth enabled

ZusiQ November 16, 2015

This is a great toothbrush for kids! Got this for my grandson, who didn't have great dental checkups, and hoping this will make a major difference. I think it will. He was very hesitant at first because the vibration made his mouth feel funny. Now that he's used to it, I don't think he will ever go back to a manual toothbrush! He now finds that brushing his teeth is fun and the app that you can download to your smartphone makes it fun and teaches them how to brush properly. Packaging says it is 75% more effective than manual brushing for better checkups - guaranteed or your money back! There is a timer that gradually increases to two minutes to teach kids better brushing habits. The toothbrush is kid-sized to fit smaller hands. Even works for kids with braces! What is really cute is that each brush comes with 8 peel-and-stick designs so that each child can design their own! Great product! Every child needs one!

Brush Time Made Fun

jojorenee November 13, 2015

I never knew the Philips brand made toothbrushes for kids. I thought it was a brilliant idea to have an interactive toothbrush. After I read all of the directions and went to the Google Play store I found out that neither my phone or my sons tablet were compatible with the Sonicare app so we did not get to experience that part. Apple ISO7 or bluetooth 4.0 or higher is a requirement. It looks like would be very engaging with the app for younger children to learn this way. With that being said, the operating instructions for the brush itself were self explanatory for an adult. It needs to charge a while and when this is done the green light stops blinking. So I charged it overnight and it was ready to go. My son really enjoyed decorating the brush with the stickers that came with it. The brush was easy for my 8 year old to operate with minimal help. Depending on the age of the child you can adjust the brushing mode. The high mode gives the full 2 minutes. If they are younger you can adjust to low. Built into that mode or timing feature that makes sure the child is brushing long enough with cute horn sounds that tell them they should move to another section of their mouth. Comes with a cover for the brush head when not in use. I like that it makes my son more interested in having a healthy mouth.

Brushing Fun

ihopper November 8, 2015

I got this toothbrush with my 3 yr old grandson in mind. He has gotten to the point where teeth brushing is a chore, no longer a fun thing, so I thought this might change his mind about brushing. The sticker sheets immediately got his attention; something fun to do with Dad. Also the fact that it has 2 speeds so that he can start out slow and progress as he feels comfortable, (anything loud or motorized tends to make him uncomfortable), so this is a plus. It still is a product that needs supervision by a parent, but what 3 year old would be brushing alone? The only draw back is the weight and size of the handle. It does require more parent assistance than a manual toothbrush, just to maneuver it. It is something that will grow with him, and help to get him into the habit of wanting to brush. All in all, I think it is a great product and one that will last through the "younger" years. I also like the fact that it is rechargeable instead of batteries, which tend to become costly after a while, and you always run out of the right battery when you need it. It does make brushing fun!

Motivates My Child to Brush Longer

SSSandANS November 9, 2015

The Sonicare for Kids Bluetooth-Enabled Toothbrush has several features that make me, as a parent, happy and some that make my son happy, too. I am pleased with the quality of this toothbrush. Compared to the cheap battery powered toothbrushes, this one far exceeds the cleaning power of those and since it is rechargeable, there's no need to replace the entire toothbrush frequently. You simply replace the head, and these can be purchased on line or in the store. (For younger children, there is a head available that is smaller and fits their mouths better, but you have to purchase it separately.) I like the kidtimer that sounds when the recommended 2 minutes of brushing has been accomplished. (This keeps my son brushing longer than he did with his manual toothbrush, so I know his teeth are cleaner now.) Once we located a device that was compatible with the app, we were able to utilize the Bluetooth to connect this toothbrush so my son could meet Sparkly, get tips for proper brushing, and see rewards for his efforts. There is also a parent section to monitor your child's brushing. My son was excited when this toothbrush arrived and started using it that day. We followed the directions and began on the low setting for him to get accustomed to the sensation of an electric toothbrush. He liked that he was able to select the design to apply to the handle, too. Although I would recommend this toothbrush, there are some improvements that could be made. The extra stickers that come with this are not necessary. I thought some of the stickers for the handle were not attractive at all, but maybe kids would like to pick their own design and would like them. I tried to download the app on my Android phone, but it was not compatible. Next, I tried to download it on my iPad, but it is an older version (2), so it was not compatible, either. I had to download the app on the mini iPad I use for work. The app is a nice feature, but I would like to see it compatible with more devices. The actual toothbrush would earn 5 stars, but the expectation that it will work with an app that is not available on so many platforms prompted me to remove a performance star.

Great toothbrush with many features

ccsakura October 31, 2015

My husband and I have our own set of Sonicare toothbrushes that we love, so when it came to selecting a powered toothbrush for our daughter-it was an easy choice to make. This particular toothbrush, designed for kids, has a lot of similar features that the regular "adult" versions have, but offers others that are geared specifically with children in mind. The handle, which surprisingly is the same size as the regular models, has a nice soft rubber material that is easier to grip and has a small stand attached, so that the toothbrush can lay flat on a counter to apply toothpaste onto the brush head. It has cute little series of tones (and a congratulatory sound sequence at the end of the brushing time) to teach the child to move to all four quadrants of the mouth and to alert that the full brushing time has been met. It also not only builds up in brushing power, but in brushing time to eventually reach the recommended full 2 minutes of brushing before automatically powering off. It offers two different power modes (high and low) and has a battery charge indicator light that will flash and beep when the battery power is low. It includes a removable replacement front panel, a selection of bright colored "kid" stickers to decorate the brush handle, and is bluetooth enabled to use with the Sonicare Kids app. The app is designed to keep kids engaged while brushing and to teach proper brushing techniques and other oral health facts. Although the stickers are cute, I would have preferred to have just a brightly colored handle than have to deal with stickers that eventually peel off and after discovering that the brushing app is over 100 MB is really something I can do without. I also would have preferred that the handle and cord length on the charger would have been shorter in length and that it would have included a travel case-not just a travel cap. Overall though, love this toothbrush, and even more importantly-my daughter loves this toothbrush.

It works.

Jenn December 2, 2025

It works and is gentle compared to the adult versions. It doesn't play music at all like the listing said. It has multiple stickers that you can put on it. They don't fit correctly or stay in place. Makes it harder to sanitize because they are there. Only has two speeds that are very slow and gentle.

It's worth a try

Polidorobio December 16, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm not sure it holds enough value per buck. Even in the website if feels like Phillips gives ths an after thought. The product is solid, effective and delivers what it is intended for. Using the app and buying parts is what makes the stars go down.
