This journal is absolutely beautiful! the pages are great quality. This journal is very well made as well as beautiful .worth every dime I'm so happy I purchased this journal. my favorite part of this journal is the cover ,its so whimsical!!! I do highly recommend it .you wont be sorry.

First, the positives: As most other reviewers have stated...this journal is BEAUTIFUL, and well-made. It has nice, thick, (recycled) cream-colored lined paper; which feels soft, yet durable, with a bit of texture. The cover is heavy (but flexible) card-stock, with an attractive 'Sun, Moon and Stars' design, embossed/printed in shiny gold foil (on both front and back), upon a black background. There's a thin layer of protective matte-finish plastic coating on the outside, which gives the cover a pleasing tactile-sensation when touched, as well as a smooth appearance. Inside, are 2 solid black cover-pages (front/back), which can be decorated/personalized, with acrylic markers or metallic gel-pens. It has a strong, sewn binding, that allows the user to open the book almost flat. The convenient size is also good, for taking along with you in a bag while traveling, or just out for the day. (You get plenty of pages, too!) For the low price (a little over $6), this is a wonderful deal, and would make a GREAT gift for someone creative--either as a regular writing journal, a junk-journal, or even a sketchbook. Now, for the negatives: It doesn't contain a satin ribbon bookmark, which always seem to be included in most journals, these days. (Only a slight disappointment, there.) Also doesn't have an elastic closure, for those who prefer that feature. However, I couldn't give this product a full 5 stars, because of ONE MAJOR issue--the pretty cover is basically RUINED, by how it was made! It isn't truly a 'deep, dark black' (as it appears in the pics), but more of a charcoal color. You can't see this in the online photos, but the only way to view the gold foil design, is by holding the journal at a certain angle, so it reflects the light; otherwise, it just disappears into the background. The cover also has a dull, 'muddy' appearance, due to the black portion being completely SCUFFED on purpose, as though it's supposed to look 'distressed', or something. (It wasn't by accident, or from mishandling--because the scuffs are placed UNDERNEATH the gold foil accents %26 plastic coating!!) Like someone at the factory took an originally pure-black notebook, kicked it across the dirty concrete floor several times on BOTH sides (and the spine!) until it was dark gray (and beat-up), then decided it was perfectly unattractive enough to finally add all the nice designs, on top! This doesn't make any sense, to me. WHY destroy the beauty of the cover, which could've been really neat, if it weren't for these problems?? Otherwise, it's cool and I like it. What was done to the cover, is SO STRANGE. (Oh, and the plastic coating is peeling up at the edges in a few areas, which is easy to fix, with some well-placed clear PET holographic sun/moon/stars stickers.) Oddly, I haven't noticed the other reviews mention ANY of this stuff, about the product. Overall, I will still use and enjoy this cute journal, and it should last a long time!
