It’s a great device. Especially if you’re into story games. But obviously you do need a PS5 unless you pay for the premium subscription which lets you stream games. But even then you need stable Wi-Fi, you need to know that you won’t be able to access the library of games you already own. Only what ever PlayStation has put out for the month. Streaming from the PS5 isn’t wow either. If you’re playing an online multiplayer game like fortnite, rocket league, COD, etc. it’s not very great. There is input lag. Not horrible but if you’re a hardcore gamer you will absolutely notice. You can’t stream YouTube or Netflix unfortunately. It’s still great for story games, being comfortable on your bed and enjoying some games. So it’s still worth it but you need to know the Cons.
It’s a great portable streaming device. Easy to pair up to ps5. The graphics are nice, but only as nice as your Internet connection. Bad internet connection = bad graphics and terrible lag. This can be used while away from home, but note that this isn’t a separate ps5, it only streams what is already on your ps5. So if your connection is bad on either end, it can cause issues. Or if you have a power outage where main console is, you may come across issues of reconnection. Someone in the room with your ps5 can also watch you play on the big screen if the tv is on—sound included. Was pretty funny watching my spouse play and he didn’t know I could hear and see his gameplay. Has an aux where you can use headphones. Also can use wireless ones. C-cable charging port. Volume level is decent, good enough for me to hear. The controls are simple and easy to use. The interface is easy and can access Home Screen easily. The touchpad is a little tricky, but I got it after a few guesses (double tap right and left on screen). Touch pad works well. The screen is very slim and I’d keep away from young ones who can’t handle this yet as it can break very easily if dropped. No case comes with it, so I’d also highly suggest buying a case for it to rest in. Charge is great. This was keeping me occupied for 4 hours and didn’t even have the charge warning yet, but was pretty close to 1 bar. So it does have a decent battery life. Love it and works well for me especially if I want to play games near my spouse or if I’m away from home.
I love my PSPortal. It’s handy when I need it. Play your portal games or games you have saved on your console anywhere with high speed WiFi. I recommend getting a travel router for ease of connecting to the internet when you use it away from home.
I got this for my fiancé for Father’s Day this year and he loves video games and he works so hard to support our family. He never gets to play his PlayStation anymore so I saw this and I was like maybe he’d be able to bring it with him to work and could play just for a few minutes on his break and maybe make it seem better to him and he loves it. He always has it in his hand Very convenient. Very easy to use love love love.
Bought one for me and my son, he loves the cloud streaming beta option and it allows me to be on remote play with the same account. Does what I need it to do, currently camping out in the hospital and it’s working great on this hospital WiFi, no connection issues, able to be heard and hear clearly in chat. Great for on the go trips.. only issue is its connection to the hotspot is iffy, but with WiFi there’s been no issues.
I usually use this at home since my nephews or the women like to watch tv. So I play this to game with other family members or friends without hogging up the tv. That way it’s a win for both parties. You do need a stable internet connection so it doesn’t lag or creates pixels while streaming. I 100 % use WiFi since my internet connection is strong so very rare it will lag for me.
Great graphics and a nice screen size. I previously owned the Switch OLED, and after comparing the two, the PS5 feels more like a small computer in your hands. Streaming works great, and even if you don’t own a PS5, you can subscribe to the PS Plus service to stream games and save your data. Speaker quality is much more immersive when using headphones, giving you a surround-sound experience similar to playing on a TV console. I would recommend avoiding games like Astro Bot on this device, as it relies heavily on motion controls. Having to move the controller to complete certain actions while simultaneously watching the screen can be disorienting and may cause dizziness. Lastly, a major draw back is not have dedicated games to put in the device to truly make this a portable device, rather than asking for everyone wifi everywhere you go. For that reason this controller loses a star.
I got this device as a present for my husband to use his PS5 away from home. However, I did not realize that the PS5 and Portal have to be apart of the same WiFi network to sync up for the portal to work. Internet connection is spotty, doesn’t work well with a hotspot. Not meant for gaming travel, and is not like a switch. I’d recommend the Backbone over this. If you want a really high-tech, touchscreen controller then you’ve found d your gadget, otherwise consider a switch or something more travel friendly and designed.
This has great potential. However, for nearly $300, I'd expect it to stay connected to the internet. My husband has cancer and we've been traveling a lot for his treatment. I thought this would boost his morale since he could continue gaming while away. But it lags terribly and disconnects way too frequently to be of any use. It's really just an expensive paper weight.
I did not receive my item and they are refusing to replace it or give my money back. The photo taking is clearly not at my house and you can tell the driver put it on the ground outside her car took a picture and said she delivered it. I order from Walmart almost everyday and they can compare the pictures and see it was not delivered to me. It’s was a back to school gift for my son so I was tracking it and standing at the door waiting for it and the driver never even came in the court where I live. I am so mad right now and they better give me my money or my product. They are a billion dollar company because they are robbing people like me.
