I've been using PolarPure for years for water purification while rafting. There was an article, years ago, in Backpacker showing a inverse relationship between time of exposure and the amount iodine needed. The numbers that I remember and use all of the time is one capful of saturated iodine in 5 gallons of water, with 24 hours of exposure. (The inverse relationship means that 2 capfuls for 12 hours, and so on, will also work.) After 24 hours one can add something like koolaid to to get rid of the iodine taste.
These are used Polar Pure bottles. One came heavily used, with some small small round crystals left but mostly flacks/dust, likely from drying the solution back out. The second one was decent but still used. Sent message to seller, no response. If you didn't know Polar Pure is no longer manufactured, so Guessing these are used from a scout camp or something. Which is fine, but that needs to be disclosed, and the bottles need to be better inspected.
Product came too late for me to take on my trip. It was supposed to arrive one week before my trip and instead it arrived more than a week after I left on my trip.
The third party shipper missed the deadline by weeks. I cancelled the order and the Walmart CS person suggested I re-order since the order had been lost. I did and they issued a refund. Then a second order arrived and I got a notice that I needed to return the first order or I'd be charged for it. I called and the Walmart rep said he'd have the shipper issue a call tag to return one order. It's been a couple of weeks since then and I've heard nothing yet. So I've been charged for both orders even though I only intended for one. This is all the shipper's fault and with all the automation in the customer service phone and chat "features" it's nearly impossible to get to a live person and their AI can't figure out how to help. The whole process has been unnecessarily frustrating and time consuming and I'm still out money for the second shipment! Don't order from this third party shipper and hopefully you won't have any trouble with even direct orders from Walmart since it's hard to get them to correct their errors!
I have never used Polar Pure but have heard lots of positive reviews. I was glad to find it on Walmart.com and that it was actually in stock! I will order more, since the seller shipped it quickly and without any problems. Thanks!
A product I've used for 35 years of backpacking and hiking. Small, convenient, and predictable water sterilization. Hard to find it recently. No need to boil water or deal with filters that tend to get plugged up.
I purchased two of these. Obviously not for a single trip since one bottle purifies so much water. I just wanted to have an extra one at the house. Polar pure is the only water purification I use in the back country. I just got back from a 105 mile canoeing trek in Canada with my daughter. We used this Polar Pure many times a day and never had any issues with our water. We also used it on our 72 mile backpacking trek in northern New Mexico using stream water. This stuff works great!
I have purchased this crystal system for multiple first aid kit in the past and used them on numerous expeditions. This time the jar arrive with only about a gram of crystals. I hope that this was a one-time error, but I now have a very expensive bottle of air that I could not take on anything more than a week-long adventure. Certainly not enough for an emergency bug-out survival kit. I expect that I will use it in my day pack for when I just need a start-term backup plan.
Product was exactly as advertised, and the price was better than other places. Unfortunately shipping was delayed.
very easy to use, portable. used on 10 day canoe trip.
