Presto 23 Quart Aluminum Pressure Canner and Cooker

I previously bought a tfal pressure canner it never reached pressure. this system worked with ease and accurately, however it comes with a 15lb pressure had to buy extra weights to use 10lbs for use. also only comes with one rack have to buy another to do double batch pints. this systems works beautifully on raised electric stove.

This is my fourth one. Gave my daughters one and taught her how to can. She also said “Why haven't I done this years ago?” So easy to do and she now understands why I did it when they were growing up! I don't can as much just a few things for two of us but years ago save time I had two canners going to get done! Always used Presto and my girls use same brand!!! They know they last my first one I got over 40 years ago still going strong!!

i have used this canner for the past two canning seasons. canned over 350 pints and quarts, plus a few half gallons just last year and had only one that didn't seal properly. probably my fault if only one. gearing up for another canning season this year, and expect the same results. not only would recommend this canner, but have to a couple of friends and family who have bought one. i'll let them do their own review, but i'll bet it is good when they can this season.

I own a farm with a large garden. I can, preserve and bottle nearly every weekend. So many recipes call for the item to be pressure cooked, (especially anything with meat). I priced just about every pressure cooker on the market. There are smaller capacity cookers on the market for more than twice the money as this one. They all do basically the the same thing. The pressure cooker I bought on line was delivered free to my door very quickly. I can buy replacement gaskets or parts from the manufacturer so I feel like I have made a lifetime purchase at a bargain price. I can not be more content. Presto is a great brand and makes many great products. I have a well worn kitchen and Presto and Walmart are again my choice. Why would you choose otherwise? If you are reading reviews then my opinion must matter to you, so I am saying,"Buy it, you will not be sorry".

My primary purpose for this is for pressure canning. This was my first try at canning and found it quite easy, reliable and safe. Just follow the instructions to the letter while stressing sanitation and you will be pleased with the result. The pressure canner is extremely well constructed and even looks nice. At first I assumed that aluminum would be difficult to keep free of stains etc.. However since I'm only using water it will be nearly impossible to stain. As this was my first try I sat there and monitored the entire process to ensure that temperature and pressure was precisely maintained. It was perfect the entire time so I'm comfortable w/ spot checks in the future. One important issue I'd like to point out... Included is one "rack" that prevents jars from touching the bottom. While it is possible to stack jars in a second layer a 2nd rack would be much easier. Consider ordering one when you order your new pressure canner. I found the capacity to be slightly more than what is advertised. 18 pint jars fit perfectly. Overall this is a quality product and should last for generations if properly cared for.

I like this canner very much. I used it the day after I received it to can some corn chowder that I made. It was very easy to use as long as you follow the directions. Please be aware that you must not only follow the directions on how to use the canner, but also the directions for how to can whatever you are making. For the money this canner processes a lot of food. It's sturdy, good looking, and handy as an extra pot. The chowder I canned came out well and I was quite pleased with how easy it was to process. My only issue, and this is not and issue with the canner, is that it can be hard to use on an electric stovetop as temperatures do not regulate quite as quickly as with gas. That is not a problem with the canner though, just a recommendation that it will be easier to use with gas. Bottom line I love it!!!!

I am in love with my canner. This was my third try. I kept buying it from Walmart and other places only to find out it was out of stock for a long time, but finally was able to get one. I've used it almost every day. It words great, medium weight. I did have to purchase another rack in order to stack my pint jars ( only brings one rack), but other than that, I love it. The price was more than I had seen it for before but giving this pandemic, I think it was still a good investment. It brings a small instructions book with a few recipes to get one started canning. The recipes are great and easy to follow.

I love the size of the canner. It's big enough to hold 7 qts at one time and even though the length of canning for pts is different you can also add them to another layer. (It's better to over-pressure can than to under pressure can.) The ONLY thing that I would love to see added, if possible, is an alert signal if the pressure has dropped below the proper level. That would save having to keep an almost constant watch on the pressure gauge for either 75 or 90 minutes. Consumer Reports rates this canner very highly. Also, I purchased a replacement seal to have on hand JUST in case the original seal fails. They are generally not available in stores, so an ounce of prevention... The purchase of an additional rack is probably a good idea when you purchase the canner for that additional layer of jars.

Very light in weight, Easy to understand instructions, and only a couple of parts to install. I should have ordered an extra seal or two knowing that it will wear out in time. My last pressure pot scared the heck out of me but this design is simple and works great so the fear is gone.

Took a few days to get from the warehouse to the store, but not too many. The 23 qt. PC comes with gauge and pre-set 15 lb. jiggler which I did not like. I put a Presto 3-piece jiggler on instead of the pre-set one which was for safety only and now it is perfect. I set the weight for 10 lbs and when the gauge reads 10 lbs. the jiggler jiggles. The best of both, gauge AND adjustable jiggler and I like it very much.
