I ordered this canner because it had a flat bottom that was suitable for a glass top stove. I did a trial run and found it difficult to maintain a constant pressure on my stove. I'll keep practicing! In the meantime I did a water bath canning and it was great. Fyi you can't water bath 1 Quart jars in the 16 L pot, as the pot is too small to fully immerse the quart jars. Delivery was quick! Overall, really happy with my purchase!
Perfect size. Fits my needs for food preservation and is not too heavy for my stove. Well built and easy to understand instructions. I'm canning like a pro from the first use.
It worked great. I've had the same pressure canner for over 30 years. It still worked great but got a new glass top so had to buy a new canner. I was happy with the new one. I expect it to last me many years. Seems well made and sturdy.
This is my first summer using this canner. I like it very much . It is light weight and I can use it on my glass top stove. I would recommend this canner.
Love this canner. The last time I pressure canned was probably 35yrs ago and my sister and I canned veggie soup with an older heavy pressure canner my grandmother gave me. I think it would have still done the job, but the pressure gauge glass was cracked when I used it last, and the seal was the same seal that had been in it for yrs. anyway I just didn't want to mess or really trusted it, so decided to get a new one. This canner is awesome!!!! canned deer meat and it did a perfect job. It is much lighter than the old one, easy to adjust pressure, no leaks around seals, and it didn't make any noise. so quite. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!!
The 16 quart pressure cooker is about 3 in taller than a quart jar. The gage is very easy to read, even from a distance. The book included is very simple and anything not in there I can find online like making boiled peanuts. The canner is nice and thick on the bottom but not too heavy to carry water from the sink to the stove. I recommend this size for every single family home.
This canner works great! I have an All American canner but it is becoming too heavy for me now that I am older. This one is much easier to manage and cans just as well. Also this can be used on a smoothtop cooktop as long as it is not too large for the burner. It does take a little getting used to adjusting the heat to keep the gauge at the right pressure. That will get easier as I become more experienced with using the Presto. Some of the instructions are a little vague. If I was a beginning canner, I would have been a bit confused. Overall, I am very pleased with this canner and would definitely recommend it.
I like have the readable gauge as well as the jiggler. Helps me to control my canning a lot better. The size is great for canning for myself. I use pints mostly because if I want some soup that I canned from making a pot of soup (you can't make a good pot of soup for one person) I just open a pint and have little leftovers. A great way of saving leftovers and never throwing out good food. Also use my dehydrator for the same reason. Don't waste food or money is my motto.
We used this and canned 140 veggies and fruit!!! I honestly neverr canned before and this had perfect instructions and recipes for the things i was canning, green beans and peaches mainly I did. Also, I have a flat top stove and thought it wouldn't do, and almost bought another stove with coils tp do it. I didnt get the stove and used the flat top and it was a success! No issues and 3 days later my stove and canner were working full force with no issues.
This is my first try at canning anything, and the very specific instructions that came with this canner are easy to understand. It is also very easy to use. I really love it and have used it to can all of the produce from our garden: potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, and peppers, and the results have been great! I would recommend it to anyone. But be aware that the aluminum can leave black marks so don't use it on a flat range top, and place it on a hot pad or towel if you put it on your countertop.
