Unbelievable Value

Myochick March 1, 2009

This knife sharpener was the lowest priced sharpener I could find online. I knew that Presto is a decent brand, so I decided to give it a try. If I wasn't impressed, I was going to return it. My kitchen knives were well worn, with many nicks along their edges. They were so bad I thought there was no way this product would even work! However, to my amazement, it sharpened every knife to a razor sharp edge. They are sharper now than the day I bought them! I definitely recommend this product!

Excellent sharpener

Well, my knives that could not cut though warm butter are now super sharp. I think I will start doing what professional chefs do, sharpen after each use. I will also purchase made in the USA knives like Chicago Cutlery instead of Made in China products. Cost more but I think it would be worth the investment in quality and the lifetime guarantee.

First electric sharpener

zz3l4b May 3, 2014

We had some really dull kitchen knives (Butter knife sharpness) that took 20+ passes on the course stone to get them in shape. Now they are VERY SHARP now. Can't believe how well it works for what we paid for it.

Pleasantly surprised at how quickly a sharp edge is created with little effort. The sharpener is on the big side %26 a little cumbersome but worth the money

Great Tool!

I have been a Master Mechanic and Hunter for 38 years At first I was a little disappointed. Yet, once I understood some certain ways to use it properly. Example: I found if you use the Left GRINDING Wheel... you can make matters worse. It probably doesn't need it. test it lightly in Right Wheel and see if the original edge is at the same angle after a light pass. The real trick is to Learn the downward pressure and the speed you pull it through. This IS a Precision Machine! (If you know how to learn it)

Great time saver!

After reading all of the negative reviews and some positive, I decided to try this sharpener. The cost is low and Walmart's return policy is a no-brainer. In comparison to my manual sharpener, this electric sharpener is awesome. I'm sure there are better (and more expensive) sharpeners out there, but this one is great for my needs. I sharpened about 30 knives in about 20 minutes, and they've never been more sharp! I agree with other reviews that this sharpener lacks power, but as long as you align the blade correctly in the slot, this won't be an issue. It may, however, be an issue as to how long it holds up. I found it more productive to slip the blade in the slot and pull it through with no downward pressure other than its own weight. This kept the speed of the motor constant and allowed the blade to align itself. Both cheap and expensive knives were sharpened perfectly. Many were serrated (including the so called permanently sharpened "Ginsu" knives...ha!). This was not a problem, although with repeated sharpenings I can foresee the serrations being honed away. I'm very happy with the overall quality and price!

The reviews are right on this one.

First thing I did when this product arrived was to drag out all the knives we've acquired over the years. Worked excellent on all of them. Some were expensive, some cheap. Haven't had knives this sharp since we used to take them to a commercial service. Just be patient, follow the instructions. You will get good results.

Is not aggressive enough for knives that are very dull. Took 16 passes on stage 1 side of sharpener to get a slightly sharp edge. Passes through stage 2 did not improve the edge. Worked well on knives that have a slightly dull edge. 4 passes through stage 1 followed by 2 passes through stage 2 made a sharp edge. The overall quality and angle of blade contact with grinding stone are good. Good light duty machine. Not for very dull knives that are made from high grade stainless steel.

Expensive and not good for us.

Was not what we expected. Husband does not like it as it does not give the edge on a knife as we thought it would.

Not a good sharpener, $10 Ikea sharpener instead

Ayush September 29, 2025

I read great review on this product and after comparing many knife sharpeners, I purchased it. After trying sharpening my knifes it did not really sharpen them, and I did not feel any difference before and after sharpening, instead it actually made the edges rough and one of the expensive knife is worse than before. I would not recommend to buy blindly based on other positive reviews, but given 90 days return I was able to return it. I had got a simple $10 sharpener for Ikea and it did much better job in sharpening the knife compare to this product.
