This particular one was ordered as a gift as it is no longer on the shelf at Walmart along with the Presto Powercups that go along with it. My first one was given to me by my brother. I used it hundreds of times while raising six children. Eventually I replaced it and I still love it. Now my grandchildren ask me to make popcorn when they visit because "You make the best popcorn Grandma. ". There is no fat used, and it is always so huge and light and fluffy. For the little children I do melt a little butter for them only after popped and in the serving bowl. I have given these many times as gifts, so I am so sorry that I can't just go to the Walmart store and pick one up.
I love this microwave popcorn popper! It is great for snacks. The lid, bowl, and the bottom gears all fit together perfectly. I have very few kernels of popcorn that do not get popped. It is easy to put together. Easy to use. Easy to clean. In my microwave, it takes just under 3.5 minutes to pop all of the corn.
I love this product My husband eats popcorn almost daily With this product I can make him popcorn easily, the way he likes it (buttery, salty) very quickly and efficiently, easy clean up and much more cost effective than bags Anybody can use this product
We love this popcorn popper. The only flaw is that the plastic lid warps with heat. But that's inevitable with heat from the microwave. We use this a couple times a week.
I had this product for years, maybe over a decade,: Accidentally, I nuked it too long, so it was destroyed (becoming slightly melted), scorching popcorn and staining my microwave walls, perhaps irreparably. This was my own fault..... These don't require oil--oil would hurt the replaceable paper "concentrator" on the bottom. These inexpensive concentrators burn through fairly quickly, so occasional purchases of a package of a few is required. Sometimes, a slightly scorched taste came through--getting the timing just right can be difficult. Popped corn usually causes the lid to rise up slightly. I prefer air poppers over these--no scorching, no harmed microwaves. Either product offers healthier, far more economical popcorn than microwave bag popcorn....
When I purchased this popper, I wasn't aware that you have to have an additional "Powerpop" concentrator. (The unit came with 8 extra.) Not only did the popper not pop very well, but the power concentrator caused my microwave (which is new) to overheat and shut itself down during every popping session. I believe that this popper could very well ruin your microwave if you don't have a high watt microwave. Many kernels were left unpopped.
I have not recieved my product yet, just an email that says it was delayed. However, I have used this products since it first came on the market (or close to it). This is actually only my second one. I will never buy another type of Popcorn popper; this one is superb. However, it is a pain to re-order the paper cup inserts.
We had one for years worked great then started to burn a hole in concentrator. Bought a new one and it burned holes also. We even reduced power to 50%. My microwave is 1100W. I used a 950W and it worked marginally if you kept the time to 1.5 minutes. Too bad we liked ours for years. Suspect they changed the disposable concentrators.
I had an old one but it started burning thru the concentrator. So I bought a new one. Same problem. Picture is from new popper. First popping. I loved the old one. Popped corn great until it didn't anymore. Two different microwaves. One 1200 watts. The other one 1600 watts. Can you help please?
It comes with a detachable "popper concentrator" that burns at the second use under the right condition. At least the bowl can be used alone. Will not purchase again.
