My husband had me order it, he is very happy. easy to put together He has another one but with both and his benches he will be able to get the house painted which is a plus for me!
I wasn't sure what to expect with such a great price; however, my expectations have been far exceeded. I wish I had purchase this scaffold long ago. I have been rebuilding my boat using a ladder. This this is strongly built, smartly built and incredibly easy to use. It doesn't take two people for anything you need to do with it. I have assembled it, moved it in rock gravel, adjusted it to fit many heights and it has made my work so much easier and a heck of a lot safer!
I bought two scaffolding units and one 4 piece outrigger unit. Everything is made of fairly heavy steel expect the deck of the platform, which is plywood, and the castors, which have polymer wheels. It all fit together well with only a small amount of clearance which is necessary of assembly. I could easily assemble it by myself, either on a flat surface or on stairs. I am using the units now for painting. It does move when you move on the long axis as the assembly clearance is taken up. It moves much less on the short axis. In any case, it never feels as if it will fall or cause me to fall. The uprights have tubes that can be used as a ladder to climb onto the platform. Each platform support has two spring loaded pins that engage in holes in the upright. There is a vertical arrow to show that the pins are correctly engaged. These should be check before each use. The platform has two spring loaded levers to hold it in the recess created by the platform supports. These ensure that there is very little racking or twisting. They should also be checked. All the wheels are lockable and should all be locked before use. Mine were fairly tight and hard to unlock when new. They are becoming a little easier as I use them. I do not think they will get too loose. When two scaffolding units are stacked you must use the outriggers. I was confused because these do not come with wheels. Eventually I realized that I could use the wheels from the upper scaffolding. I installed the outriggers on the short axis to make the assembly wider in that directly. All eight wheels should be locked. There is a little more movement with two scaffold units stacked because I have double the number of joints. Again it never felt like it would fall apart or anything. I need to be careful with the scaffolding. I check to be sure all the screws on the outriggers are tight, all the pins are fully engaged, and the wheels are locked. This only take a minute or so. When working on them I need to be careful not to step off the edge. They do sell railings which I might purchase if I was stacking three unit. I am very happy with these units. The purchase price was a little more than the weekly rental cost. In my area it appears that no one is renting this type of scaffolding any longer. The only ones I could find to rent were the exterior type of scaffolding. I’d recommend this to a friend in a minute.
First off, what made me buy it was the great price at the time ($149 i see it's gone up in price a bit). It arrived quickly was easy to put up, which i did by myself. The top of the braces attach to the "legs" but there is an extra hole in the brace that corresponds to a hole in the leg and i bought extra pins (sorry can't remember the official name at this time) to made me feel just a bit better about the support (i think the support was fine but since the holes were there i purchased pins similar to the ones used to attach the legs). The wheels lock and i set them at outward angles to provide a little more support, certainly you might want the side braces if you decide to add another section. It would have been nice if the guard rail scaffolding was cheaper so i could have bought that for additional safety but for home use that was a bit much. I did take some electrical conduit and zip tie it to one side from top leg rail to top leg rail to give me something to let me know i was close to the edge on that one side. Overall for the jobs i have planned (cleaning carport ceiling, painting and likely eventually painting the trim around the house again) this will be very helpful. Now i plan to only use the one scaffolding and will not add a set on top, the one set is sturdy, doesn't shake and is easy enough to get on and off it even for an old guy. Glad i bought it.
One tip. I put a stand folding ladder in an upside down "V" configuration and tied it to the scaffolding. That did a great job in stabilizing the scaffolding and also an easy way to get on and off the scaffolding. I was very pleased with the quality.
This a a perfect set of scaffolding for trimming bushes and other chores usually done on ladders!... Buy this ... get off that dangerous ladder befor its too late .. accessorize with add ons ..VERY STABLE .. easy to roll around or pull around with golf cart
Super easy to assemble, no missing parts, well built, sturdy and strong. It will be very handy to use. Glad I purchased this scaffold!
I borrowed one of these from a friend previously. It worked great! So when the need and opportunity arose to purchase one, I took it! It turned its first job into a quick and much easier experience.
I bought 2 from Tractor Supply and 1 from Walmart. The one from Walmart didn't have the middle support, under the board like the ones from Tractor Supply. So when I stand in the middle of the it feels a little weak. Other than that it's the same and priced the same.
Item description clearly states four casters are included. Item arrived with no casters. Contacted Buffalo Tools and they insisted GSSI model does not include casters despite the facts that Walmarts was page states they are included and in addition Buffalo Tool's included product broucher in the box states and shows GSSI with caster set. Eventually after proving to the customer service rep that both their, and Walmart's as showed casters included they tell me they will honor the description and ship me a caster set. I was so pleased that I purchased the Pro-series guard rail set and the out rigger set. Ultimately I never received the caster set. Interestingly, a couple days after contacting Buffalo Tools, the Walmart web page for this item shows "Out of stock". Interesting how someone at Buffalo Tools and/or Walmart realized the faulty advertisement and discontinued the item. I'll keep watching to see when they reintroduce the item with a new price and/or description. Of course no one will be ordering the GSSI from Walmart as it is out of stock so both companies now appear to be off the hook to make my purchase whole.
