Proctor Silex Panini Press Sandwich Maker & Compact Grill with Nonstick Plates

I bought this sandwich griller because it was recommended by the TV Show, 'Americas Test Kitchen'. It is a great little unit. Hint: you can set an heavy iron skillet or a brick (covered with aluminum foil) on top of the cover when making a panini (to give some extra weight to smoosh the sandwich a bit better). I have used it a dozen times and 100% happy with it and would buy it again

I am very happy with this panini maker, it makes great cheese sandwiches, is easy to clean, non stick ceramic surface . It takes only a few minutes, easy to store away

I have used the grill for burgers, grilled sandwiches and boneless chicken breasts. Worked quite well for all. Easy cleanup!

This Panini maker is excellent, comparable to or even better than panini makers that cost five times as much. It won the title of best Panini maker on the Cook's Country show with Adam Reid.

This is a great machine that does its job and was very fairly priced. I would highly recommend this product.

Heats up fast, grills toasted cheese sandwich quickly, a little flat to my liking though, will have to learn not to let the top grilling plate rest too heavily. Does an excellent job of grilling hot dogs and buns. Have not had it long enough for more experimenting.

The best part is the floating lid which makes it easier to grill multiple types of foods. The grease trap worked great and no leaking around unit. Smaller than expected (fit two burger patties) but still decent size. I only wished the plates were removable to make it easier to clean!

This was a replacement for a lower level Proctor Silex panini/sandwich machine. We use these for virtually everything.. steaks, burgers, salmon fillets, hot dogs, grilled veggies and pineapple, sandwiches.. and I'm probably forgetting things. Being able to cook from both sides saves both time and effort and the temperature control is nice. The reason I deducted a star is cleanup. Ugh! The grooves are so deep that this is miserable to clean. They do provide a scraper/spatula but it doesn't do a great job. (Mine came without it and Proctor Silex was great about sending me one for free). It also includes two cups to put under the corners of the machine to drain grease. The pullout drawer on the lower level machine is nicer but wouldn't work with this because it opens all the way up. If this came with removable plates for easy cleaning, I'd give it ten stars.
