We have went though four cheese slicers in the last three years and the last one we bought before this one, broke the first time I used it. I went online and found this unit and ordered it without seeing it at the store. All I can say is it cleans up nicely and cuts easily through the cheese even thin slices. The wire was a little off centered when we got it and it said in the directions that is normal and I just moved the cutting arm over a little and it lined up fine. It feels like it is going to last quite a while. Thanks!!! oh ya, it's made in the USA!!!
Bought it because my hand held adjustable cheeze slicer didn't last more than 1 week. This product does well & I use it daily - has been more than a month & still going strong. Soft or hard cheezes - does well. Having the immoveable feet really help on the harder cheezes. Did notice when researching on this site before I ordered - that another had trouble keeping it clean. I just flip it over to get any crumbs out of the wire trough, rinse then dry after each use .. doesn't seem to be a problem for me. Also on another comment .. on the harder cheezes I just go a little slower for the wire to catch up through the mass. The wire does move sideways a tiny bit .. but I'm not fussy - I don't have to have exact sizing .. I'm not doing rocket science here .. just needs to be thin to go onto bread for my cheese bread with fruit breakfast.
I've only used it a couple times,,,,,,,, of course cheese, but also for Liverwurst! Works great! But we'll see how long the wire holds up. It's very attractive for using during parties, etc. But practical for normal kitchen cutting. I love it! Washing is easy enough, scalding hot water and soap under the tap water of the sink, and a regular kitchen brush to get in the 'cut-in line'. :)
This slices even the strongest cheese. I have a hard time slicing American cheese and this slicer does the trick. It will slice as thick or as thin as you want. Love, Love, Love!
my husband wanted me to get a cutter that would cut very thin and also thick slices. this will certainly do the job.
This cheese cutter not only looks great but also works great! Much sharper and easier to use.
I actually use it to cut my homemade soaps which can have delicate toppings. Slice perfectly every time.
This cheese slicer meets all my needs - looks good, is well built, and slices cheese nicely - even the big 2lb blocks I buy. My only complaint is that they should include a spare wire or at least give you the option of buying one when you order the slicer.
Perfect size. Wood is dry and slightly rough which will need to be treated with food grade oil prior to initial use. Look forward to using it.
Sturdy board...a little hard to clean the groove out even under the sink sprayer..have to use a knife and scrape out the cheese. The wire moves a lot but it's easy to adjust it.
