awesome piece of equipment. The price was decent. It wasn't too difficult to assemble. Remember to not completely tighten all the bolts until you are done assembling because you may need a little wiggle room putting everything together. This comes in a heavy box about 150 pounds. Shipping to longer than estimated but that was fedexs fault not walmarts. Also the balance form 1000 was 60 dollars more and if inad seen it sooner I probably would have have bought that instead. It comes with dip bars and plate holders. That alone is worth it. I'm not going over 800 for sure and 1000 is an overkill for sure but its nice to have the higher rating. Anyways I ordered the dip bars because I'm pretty sure they're interchangeable.
I am a 35 yr old woman who started lifting this year. Due to the pandemic, I needed something for my home gym. For the price, this is excellent quality! It shipped much faster than expected. I immediately assembled it (all by myself) and it took about 2 hours but is definitely do-able solo. The only additional tool I needed was a hammer for the end caps. Due to ceiling height, I absolutely attached the pull up bar inverted ;) I'm not doing pull-ups yet, plus I'm extremely short so it's fine for me. But if you're worried about ceiling height — attaching it inverted is an option.
I have two teenage boys that are growing and been wanting a pull up bar. So when I saw this product available for review, I thought this would be a great opportunity to get a pull up bar. It definitely met its goal, but it's so much more. Read on. First, I do have to tell you this package is very very heavy. Do not try to lift or move it alone. . I actually just left the package where it was delivered and opened it up and moved it piece by piece. Anyhow, the assembly went smoothly and took about 4 hours. The boys immediately tried the pull up bar over head. It has grips for multiple positions including for pull ups, chin ups, etc. Then we decided to test it's other functions. Besides the overhead pull up bars, there are two other horizontal bars in the back of the cage. It allows you to do other exercises including push ups. We then brought our weight bench into the cage, and set it up for bench press. The chrome safety bars were easy to adjust. There was plenty of space in there for the bench press, and it was great knowing the safety bars are there "just in case". Also the J hooks on the cage is very helpful in racking and unracking. We don't do much squats with free weights. But now with this cage, it definitely feel safer to do it and we'll likely work that more into our workout routine. Overall, this is an excellent wight cage. Highly recommend it!
It arrived as promised. The rack is well made and went together easily. I wouldn't recommend for someone much taller than 6 ft because of the rear upper crossmember. Your head will hit it when racking the bar. It's a very nice and affordable rack for home use. I use it for barbell squats, bench press, presses (overhead) and pull-ups. It's solid but I don't know how it would do with 500 or 600 lbs. I wish the j hooks were a little larger. I can't immediately tell if I'm securely on them when racking a heavy weight. I'm very happy with the product!
If this is available, get it right away! Best purchase for my home gym ever. Very sturdy for pullups and any work out. Ive used this for squats and bench press and holy crap best thing ever. Assembled it by myself which was super easy. Also bought the lat pulldown attachment a few weeks later that was a litte harder to assemble but manageable. Overall, if its available.. get it NOW!
Easy to assemble, but takes about an hour. Seems pretty solid and good for home use. It is in my basement which has 84" ceilings so this just barely fits.
This rack is solid. I did quite a bit of research looking a for a rack for my home gym. I wanted one with good functionality and needed it to be affordable. I was going to get the Fitness Realty 810 xlt and the lat pull down attachment from amazon, then I found this one, which is the same rack under the ProGear name. The ProGear rack and lat attachment were a lot cheaper and the lat attachment has and extra bracket that makes it seem more sturdy and durable. I would advise getting the lat pull down and low row attachment for the rack. The instructions made assembly fairly easy. I put it together alone in about 2 hours taking my time. It was well packaged and none of the parts were damaged in any way. I really like that I can now do barbell squats and bench presses at home alone and safely. This equipment is taking my fitness journey to the next level and I am loving it.
Assembles quite easily. Feels very sturdy, and therefore safe. Especially the safety bars are a very robust stainless steel, which is important. I'm doing a variety of barbell motions + pull-ups on the rack. Difference between this and a high end rack might be: - J hooks could be a little bigger, which would be nice for things like putting barbells back on the rack after squatting. - Pull up bars don't have the greatest grip, it's just a matte finish on hollow metal. A little knurling or having a rubber type grip would be nice, especially for wide grip pullups, where you might slide down the side. - Safety bars can give a light metal on metal screech when being adjusted to different levels. If you care a lot about those areas, maybe you'll need to spend a little more. For what I paid ($220 pre the COVID rush on gym equipment), this was fantastic value relative to other options, and the rack, when assembled well, seems very sturdy and safe to me.
Great low priced cage. More sturdy than I had expected. Packaged well and was easy to assemble. If you can find a cage better than this for the price I'd be surprised. I'm 200 lbs and can do pull ups without feeling that this is even moving.. Great economical cage!!
Very happy with it. Just barely clears floor joists 7ft from basement floor. When assembling the pull up bar didn''t seem like it was going to fit, but when both sides were made square and plumb (no angle at all), there was just enough clearance. If needed, you could get an extra 1/4" clearance by removing the plastic feet. If your floor was poured too thick, it probably won't fit.
