Great product! Individual packaging makes early mornings a breeze and allows choices for the family. Great as a main course or side dish. Not on the BRATTY diet but should be! Easy and quick to make. We throw in a handful of cheese, an egg or chopped bacon, sausage or ham to make a variety but the bacon, cheese, etc. flavors are great as is.
I'm from the south but I've been living in Pac NW many years. I'm the only one now who loves a grits and eggs breakfast so these are perfect. Only minor drawback with the variety pack would be if you don't care for one of the included varieties, but there are several different options for buying these "instant" grits. I only wish I could get the ham and red eye gravy variety! I highly recommend this item
I don't like what they did to the bags. They are about half the size they used to be. I find them expensive for what you get. Also I did not get equal portions of each flavor. They loaded it up with plain. There was only one bacon. It's a variety pack or supposed to be. Quaker is good. It's always been good. I just don't like the portions or price anymore. I would be just as happy to have great value if they made a variety.
I still buy regular grits but decided to try instant for a change. They come in different flavors which is awesome. Just like instant oatmeal, you just add some water and they basically cook in your bowl. It's quick and a delicious breakfast addition.
I am about to turn 74 on the 28th . I. grew up eating grits and I still love them and the variety pack is my go to. I luv the fact that they are microwaved. I don't cook any big family meals anymore and have the Queen of the Micro to add to my list of nicknames.
Quick n easy to make. I use : Tabasco Green Pepper Sauce, salt-free butter, Sugar Bombs tomatoes, a fried egg, slightly runny…bacon, or Jimmy Dean pork sausage…and BAM…I'm ready to take on whatever the day brings to me… ps; I am not an employee of W/M, albeit, a critic at times…
Quaker brand grits have better flavor/texture than other brands. The 22 count box is a good value. Quick and easy, and very filling. I do add a bit more water than recommended and cook them for 2 minutes. This seems to make them smoother, just be sure to stir them well before placing in microwave and also after. They will thicken after cooked. My family has enjoyed all of the flavors for years , but butter flavor is our favorite.
I love grits, but the instant stuff tends to be saltier. Then the regular that you just take a bit longer to cook. If you're concerned about your sodium levels, you might want to avoid this it taste OK, but it's not as good as the stuff that you cook longer. Granted that's a personal preference but it's still something to watch out for.
Are these the taste and consistency of regular grits? No. Are they convenient in a pinch? Yes. These grits are quick to make and taste pretty good, not like regular grits, but pretty good. If you're Southern you probably won't try them. If you're Northern give them a try.
I like grits every once in a while and prefer variety which is the reason I bought these. The plain packets are good to add extra black pepper no salt, sometimes I'll mix half a packet of the butter with a plain and add black paper which works pretty good if you want something quick
