Remington 1” Flat Iron with Anti-Static Technology, S5500G

First, I am not using it to straighten my hair. So, I cannot judge the quality of the device on hair. What I am using it for is to heat seal mylar bags for long term food storage and it does well.

I have used this brand for years! They really last! For extremely thick hair and the weight of this in my hand is perfect! Does an excellent job of straightening with many temperature options.

Very happy I took a chance on this. I went on a trip and forgot my beloved chi and decided to try this based on other reviews. It actually works just as well on my hair as the much more expensive Chi.

for the price i expected less, but it exceeded my expectations, i do have course hair , ang the natural state is curly ..and my hair is super silky now

Didn’t give it a try but docked one star from every category just because it’s not dual voltage when my previous basic Remington straightener was. This one looks like the exact replica but cheaper plastic material. I do wish all straighteners had a lock function like this model for ease of travel.

You have to squeeze it pretty hard to not be able to see through the plates. This is the reason for 4 stars. You have to put a good bit of pressure and even then it's not great, but it's not a bad straightener once you do that. I've paid a lot more for other straighteners and gotten worse results than this one. If it would clamp all the way shut, I would give it 5.

The ceramic plates on either side of this straighter do not touch all the way down; they only touch at the top half, so basically only the tip of the straightener can be used to straighten hair, while it slips right through the gap where the bottom halves of the plates don't meet. Returning.

It bothers me that I purchased this item from Walmart based on the reviews it was given. I'm starting to see on a lot of items that most of the reviews are from an influencer site or an incentivized site. They get these items for free and they give them five star review every time no problem. I have several issues with this flat iron first cord is too short, the digital screen is hard to read. The flat arm plates are too long leaving the handle too short, which will leave you with very bad finger burns. This product does not close well and you can see through the plates completely when pressed down. So yeah, I tried to straighten my hair with this and it was just like doing nothing. The heat from the hot iron itself made my hair hot but the plates do not touch at all. I like the locking mechanism on it but it's really not needed. I like that it's light way and it feels good in the hand but yeah, this is a terrible product and I would not buy this.
