These water bottles are not made of cheap plastic. However, they are much sturdier than the typical bottles with stainless steel tubes and balls. They seem to work so far. As to getting the nipple through the cage wires/hardware cloth, it is simple, take pliers and MOVE the wire of the spot you want to put it and slide it through! Then screw it along with the rubber washer, which is supplied, and make a tight seal. It is held with a bracket that fits into the wire cage. Then fill it up from the outside WITHOUT having to take it apart. If this is too much, quit complaining, and buy a glass water bottle with a rubber stopper, stainless steel tube, and two balls.
read the review about nipple not fitting through squares in rabbit cages so i ordered for my bar cages. When i got them they were great and if you install nipple through the cage they fit perfectly for the hardware cloth cages too. I will be ordering more for all the cages. Makes watering fast and easy.
Works well so far.
I tried other water bottles that leaked I tried a bowl but it got spilled so I tried this and it didnt leak and its easy to fill so Im very pleased!
No more taking tops off to fill water bottles. Flip the lid and add water. Holds more than most individual waterers. Great product.
We were eager to give this product a try despite several negative reviews. It took a while to figure out the best way to hang it on the bars of our rabbit pen, but then was secure and easy to fill. Unfortunately, after weeks of trying, neither rabbit could figure out how to get water out of this bottle, despite being thirsty and sniffing around it when we would make it drip when they had run out of water in their dish overnight (we wanted it as a backup water source to their water dish). Use caution and always provide an additional water supply as this nipple waterer was not intuitive to use for either of our rabbits (who both drink from a traditional water bottle or dish with no issue), and they could have died from dehydration if we had switched to only using this bottle. Tried to return it after giving the product a chance for 30, but could not and seller would not allow us to return it on day 31. Disappointed with their shorter return window and customer service after explaining the situation, that we now have to keep a useless product and the potential danger of this as a water source for small animals who may not be able to use it.
You have to put it together. And the hole to pul the nozzle in was too small for the metal nozzle through. Very disappointed. Ended up going to petro and buying one.
Cheap garbage already broke off at the connection
The drinking spout will not fit through the cage bars. Product is completely unusable. And I can't return it to Walmart.
I'm not happy with this waterer purchase, cheap plastic, and the valve leaked from the beginning! dont buy!
