I am a big fan of these. I have been using acrylic for a few years and so wanted to give oils a try. In my opinion compared to acrylic, the oil is much easier to work with. I Can take my time compared to acrylic which dries much faster on the canvas. Easier to blend on canvas compared to acrylic. Had a lot of fun for first time use! Had to research drying times and in my opinion that's the only downside. Fantastic Price superb quality paints! Thanks
This was a gift and is a good one. It is great to be able to purchase small items, smaller quantity of oils and it was what I needed. The paints are perfect oils.
probably the best oil paint walmart has. i wouldnt buy any other kind of oil paint from walmart. they are not good. comes out of tube like old, super old cake batter and doesnt ever get to the right consistency that it should abd dries all cake like abd flakes off. but i do like this brand and perfer it over anyother kind from here.
Got these for my daughter for Christmas. She loves them. Thought they were a little expensive for what you got
for the price this is a great set of oils, I recommend picking up a large tube of mixing white oil to compliment and expand how much you can get out of the pigment.
Overall, it's a decent buy, especially when you consider it to be from Walmart. No, they are not the art supply store, and you can tell, but they have gotten a little better over the years, and this will do what you want it to. For more in-depth, keep reading. It works, it does what it is supposed to do, and it has a good thick body that blends well while still retaining individual pigmentation color until blended properly instead of some of those that get muddy pretty quick. The luster of it is ok at best but looks good nonetheless, and of course, the little covers to seal it under the cap are not very user-friendly, though that doesn't matter, expensive vs cheaper brands, most of them the seal can at times be a pain. But for color pigmentation, it is a good buy. The pigment for the green and brown seems to split a little dirty on occasion, but you can blend them back to smooth. Holds texture pretty well, with little peaks falling after a few days of curing, but nothing too noticeable.
Nice colors, not used to working with oils so hard for me to judge fairly, it does seem to go on smoothly.
I want to preface this by saying that, for their price, these paints are an okay way to try and learn oil painting. However, I have a lot of issues with them. They're very runny, excess oil comes out when you squeeze out some paint. They're not very opaque, so your colors come across as translucent, and that can be annoying to work with. But, I can also acknowledge that they're only $5, which is really cheap for what they are. So, if you're just looking for something cheap to get into the medium with, I suppose these would do the trick.
These smell like no other oil paints I've used. Good luck trying yellow. Some colors are runny some are thick goop. Put first layer down on canvas two weeks ago, not one part of it is remotely dry. What is this stuff???
The product NEVER arrived, and the driver still had the nerve to upload a photo showing how he left my package lying in the middle of the street.
