The ice pack divider is definitely a step in the right direction for dual-functionality in a cooler. It's slim nature makes it fit into any freezer well. It feels durable and lasts quite a while. I recommend this for sure with the road trip cooler, don't even question it
This is great for dividing the cooler. Also good for cooling if you freeze it. Wish they had an ice pack that fits in the gear net area under the lid. I'm using my cooler atypically (to keep glue cool on the jobsite), and prefer to use the gear net for ice packs so the glues are not in direct contact with the ice.
We recently took our RTIC cooler on a trip that spanned over a thousand miles in the blazing Texas heat, strapped to our cargo carrier the entire way. From start to finish, our food stayed just as cold as the RTIC name promises. Later, we brought it down to the beach, and that's when the design really shined—its high ground clearance and sturdy wheels made pulling it across sand, gravel, and everything in between effortless. No dragging, no scraping, and it never sat directly on the ground. We chose RTIC for a few key reasons: its rock-solid durability, aluminum handle, tough wheels, and easy-access latches. And let me tell you, two things in particular stood out during our trip. First, the elevated clearance meant we didn't have to awkwardly lift the cooler way up just to keep it from dragging. Our friends with other brands kept tipping theirs high just to get the wheels to roll, and when they didn't, the bottoms scraped along, collecting dirt and sand. We simply pulled ours along—smooth and easy. Second, the seal on this cooler is no joke. After a few days, when it came time to drain the meltwater, just opening the drain plug caused it to come out in slow “burps” until we cracked the lid. The moment we did, the water flowed out fast and smooth. That's the kind of tight seal you want in a cooler. And here's a fun bonus: even the kids could pull it. The aluminum handle's comfortable grip, paired with the bigger wheels and higher clearance, made it easy for everyone in the family to move it around—whether we were on the beach, at a rest stop, or back at the house. All in all, this cooler isn't just a piece of gear—it's a trip companion we can rely on. Compared to other brands, it's a worthy investment that's going to stick with us for many adventures to come.
This cooler is a must have for day road trips! It fits perfect behind the driver or passenger front seat so you can easily access. I LOVE the recent promotion of receiving the freezable divider as well as drinkware with purchase. Ordering from the website was easy and shipping was fast! It's just the right size for a day or two trip and stays cold for 2 days with the freezable divider. It's also not too heavy and I love that you can adjust the carry strap. We will use it often! ordered the marine blue and tan and love the color combo. I also had it personalized as well! I went back and forth between the Yeti and RTIC and am so glad I went with RTIC. Great value for the price!
The freezable divider was an awesome add-on to our cooler purchase! Not only does it make a great freezable ice cooler to keep the inside of the cooler nice and chilly, it acts as the perfect divider to keep items in the cooler separated and better organized.
My husband, a plumber in Phoenix, and I have been on a quest to find the perfect cooler. Finally, we stumbled upon one that has become an indispensable part of our lives. My husband uses it daily, and it consistently maintains the temperature of the ice with the insert, even when left in the scorching heat of the car during the summer months. He loves and appreciates how the food in the dry basket stays cold and fresh as well. The cooler's lightweight design makes it easy to carry, even when it's full. It's the perfect match and can't wait to try more products from RTIC.
The fre16 freezable divider for the 16 qt road trip cooler is a useful accessory and one that I will use regularly. However, it is not a replacement for the cutting board dividers that are also useful in some situations but are no longer available. I was forced to fabricate one of the latter type myself using an oversized and off-brand item. . Both have their place, and both ought to be available.
I regret buying this cooler for one simple reason. You cannot get the lid open due to the clumsy, difficult latch. Who designed this. It is *impossible* to open this cooler with one hand, and pretty difficult to open even with two hands. To open, you must put one hand on the backside of the cooler and use your other hand to push the button and lift the lid. If you try with one hand, it just slides and tilts. Pretty disappointing design, and I already have another RTIC cooler. Bummer
It's great in theory. It's attractive, well-made, snaps in satisfyingly. However, in practice, I've found the 22 qt cooler too small for a divider. I've tried using it a couple times and have ended up taking it out each time in order to use the already small space. It also seems to melt faster than my igloo ice packs. I'll keep trying to use it. Maybe in a different use case, it will work better.
Doesn't keep wine chilled as well as a wrap-around ice. The ice surface touches about 1" of the bottle at any given time. Too thin to remain cool for long. Additional ice does that job but takes up precious space in the small interior Road Trip cooler.
