This rain barrel is sturdy and also has a lot of eye appeal. I got it installed right before we had a pretty good storm and it filled up the 50 gallon barrel by 2:00 am. Yes, I was outside checking it. I am seriously considering purchasing a second one for the overflow.
Love the look of this Rain Barrel. It looks strong and dependable. It's not that expensive. We haven't had a lot of rain lately; can't wait to get it filled up. We're only allowed to water our yard once a week so this would be a big help.
So easy to assemble, clear directions provided. The spigot assembly was also easy. Everything worked as it should. Solid size with a flat back, perfect for my set up, will make the barrel more sturdy. Incredible value, great design- I'll check out more from this company.
Great concept with the flat back, easy assembly. But...the filtering "screen" made of plastic that goes over the water intake hole has holes that are small enough that they make the water create a barrier/water plug in the holes and splash over the sides. If you run it under water over it with a hose or under a faucet, it goes through fine, but it's not the same as rain water coming down. There was a torrential downpour for over an hour recently, my area was like a small lake, flooding, etc. I thought oh good, there should be some water in the barrel. Some? There wasn't even enough to cover the bottom. I noticed when I went to look that a lot of water was just sitting on top of the plastic filter with water plugs in all the holes clearly forcing a lot of the water that landed on the top off the sides. I took the plastic filter off and secured fine mesh as a filter. I hate rain but there's more to come this whole week and I can't wait...that stupid barrel better be full.
I assembled this a few weeks ago, followed the instructions, and easy to assemble. This worked really well for a few weeks but now it has a constant leak coming from the spigot. It is too full now to return so I will just attempt to keep a bucket under the spigot at all times, however this does cause the bucket to overflow and flooding on ground. Also hooking up a hose to the spigot does not give enough water pressure to use with a hose. Only dribbles water out when valve is open.
The biggest problem with this rain barrel, is that the holes on the top screen are too small for the water to pass through. Water just runs off the top. I had to cut the screen and have the downspout go directly into it. The product is of decent quality but needs a better drainage surface. Read any five star reviews with a grain of salt because if you leave a five star review you can get paid $10. The product came with a piece of paper, explaining how to collect that $10 if you leave a five star review.
It has a leaking spigot. I used Teflon tape and tried to tighten it a bit but the problem persists. I had drain it and use some thread sealant. Also there was a lot of plastic particles inside so clean it before you connect a pump. Overall 2 stars for the extra hassle and effort.
this item is ok. the spouts are absolute garbage though. so do youself a favor and swap them out for something else before you set it up. ive literally used the spouts twice and now they wont turn off all the way. the constant drip just emptieds the barrel
It did not come with the spigot attached. The instructions said to put your arm through a 3 inch hole and reach over 3 feet inside to install the spigot. It's not humanly possible without cutting a larger hole in the top. I can't use it, so I am returning it. Messages to the company about this design flaw have gone unanswered. Don't order this
Do not buy. The screen on the top is way too small. The water comes out of the downspout faster than this barrel will accept it. Basically useless. The packaging says not to return it to the store so I contacted RTS directly and they haven't even bothered to respond.
