Most of my airguns are in .177 caliber. But, i do have one in .22 caliber. It's a Crosman 1322 that I replaced the plastic breech with a steel one, then put on a Centerpoint 4 power scope, and the Crosman skeleton stock. Makes for a fun, and super handy little multi-pump carbine. It has no other mods, and still has the stock 10.5" barrel. As usual, when I get a new airgun, I get a selection of appropriate pellets to try out. I got some Crosman hollow points, Destroyers, and Hunters, Benjamin hollow points, Daisy wadcutters (very inexpensive), Gamo Match wadcutters, Gamo round ball (just for fun). Then I stumbled on a tin of these Ruger Superpoints at Walmart. They only had one and I bought it. I found that none of the big airgun online stores listed these. I began the tests. I weeded out the pellets that through too many uncalled fliers, or otherwise grouped to large. This, at 10 -11 yards. I rejected the Gamos, as they were kind of all over the place, and were not consistent. I found the Crosman Premier hollow points just about as bad. I also tossed the Crosman pointed hunting pellets, and Destroyers. Three pellets made it to round two. These Rugers, the Benjamin hollow points, and the Daisy wadcutters. After much more shooting, I rated these three pellets, fro worst to best, the Benjamin hollow points, followed by the Daisy wadcutters, and best, these Ruger Superpoints. The Ruger pellets flat out killed the others. The Rugers easily got the tightest groups, with almost no fliers, and were the most consistent. The results seemed the same using either 6 or 8 pumps. I use this combination of airgun and pellet to shoot rats at night using small red or green led flashlights attached. The Crosman 1322 with these Ruger pellets drorats with authority. The Superpoint pellets, in this gun with me at the trigger are in a class by themselves. The Daisy wadcutters aren't too bad too, but will not group as tight as often. Most of these other pellets might give a decent group sometimes, but then will toss a pellet 1.5" out, our give a 1' group with no pellets touching. The Rugers always group great for me. I think the Daisy's are worth a try, and are a huge bargain at about $5.00 for 500. Now that Walmart shows these in stock, I am ordering 5 more tins soon.
I purchased these when I purchased my Beeman Gas Ram Quiet Tek rifle. I also purchased two other pellets at the same time. In my rifle, these just would not group well. I had better luck with the other pellets. At that time, the only good thing I could say about these pellets us that they hit with authority. They were much heavier than my other pellets (17 grain vs 14.3 grain). I had just about thrown these out. However, fast forward one year. I had just purchased a Beeman QB78. As I was sighting in my optics on this rifle, I found the tin of pellets I had sworn never to use again. Just for fun, and a want for to be rid of these pellets, I found that these grouped the BEST in the rifle. I and a buddy were plinking spent .22lr shells at 30 yards with this rifle/pellet combo. My "go-to" pellets for the other rifle didn't group as well as these. I guess the moral of my review is this: Try out multiple brands and types of pellets in your airguns. What works in one rifle may not work as well in another... I'm just happy that I did not throw these away a year ago.
I dont even like pointed pellets. But this one has turned out to be may favorite. Heavy at 17g. accurate, coon killer. Whats best is there soft, they mushroom out real nice and wont over penetrate. I cleaned mine in a cereal bowl. There kinda dirty w/flakes. But w/price & killing power, its nothing to clean them up. My Ruger Yukon loves these pellets,i bought because of name, made by Umerex a leader in this technology. Truely cool that a Ruger Pellet turnt out the best for the Ruger rifle.
Originally I purchased the widely used Crosman 14.3gr Premier pellets that many recommend as a all around great pellet. My newly purchase Kodiak X2 was a huge disappointment when I unboxed it and began trying to sight it in. I couldn't even get a 2 inch group at 15 feet until I bought these Ruger Superpoint pellets!! Not only did the pellets improve my groups they are actually holding a group of less than 1 inch at 20 yards shooting from a rest.
Good product and a good price
These seem to fly straighter and penetrate better. Taken several squirrels with them.
so far this pellet have surprised me, at first inspection they look cheap. But compared to the 9 other types that I have, they work very well in my Prowler. Again every pellet rifle is different, so experiment with different types. Example my crosman crusher they don't work so well. Will buy some more, great price under 6 bucks at my local Wal-Mart. happy shooting
This is a good product but it does shoot high since they are a light pellet. Shipping was not the best but that has nothing to do with the product
Ive shot a little over 1000 of these threw a Ruger Yukon .22 so far. I get 16ftlbs. of hard hittin, penetratin, mushroomin energy at 20 yrds. Coon killer x's 5, 1 shot kills. groups well w/C Premier dome, cromag,JSB 15.9. I use the 17g Ruger impact on coons. Excellent pellet....BUT they got alot of flakes, every tinful,so in order to get the results i get in accuracy requires cleanin them. its worth it,especially for the price. I rollem around in paper towels & cereal bowl till i see no flakes. for me its worth the hassel, thats why i keep ordering them. there made by Umerex, same co. that makes Ruger air rifles & many other big names. Once clean i can hit same hole many times out to 30 yrds/ 14lbs of energy, when im doin my part.
These pellets are very dirty and have a very soft skirt. The head sizes too small and they don't go out the barrel very straight because I see they hit the target sideways sometimes. I can shoot german pellets all the way to 100 yards and hit the target but I can't even hit the backstop with these pellets. Up close they definitely hit very hard but I'm going to crush them down and slide them into a cylindrical slug.
