No issues right out of the box. Just plugged it in and screwed it secured ( NOTE: It does not come with m2 screw so if your mobo does not have a clip to hold it and you do not have one just be aware you need it ) Insanely fast SSD for the price. I had most of my games on an older actual HD and this was a great example of how far we have come.
I bought this in December for $149. Initially walmart canceled and i had to reorder. 6 months prior to that this drive was $99 now it's $299. The AI ddr chip shortage has affected everything electronic. for the price I paid its on the high end. For $300 it's highway robbery but what can you do everything electronic is getting more expensive courtesy of tariffs and AI induced chip shortages.
I put this in an external expansion hub for my Mac Mini M1. Standard, easy installation process… just like adding RAM into a computer. Mac recognized it instantly; disk utility app popped up and prompted me to initialize/erase the new card. It's only been in a day, but it's speedy and has added a terabyte of extra storage to my little 2020 Mini. Very happy with the purchase!
This is an excellent drive. Very fast load times, much better than older NVMe drives! NVMe Gen5 makes a massive difference if you're using Gen3, or especially SATA drives. These are known to be durable, reliable and last long, Blazing speeds and excellent capacity. Much better value than the 990 Pro for almost the same performance! 10/10 deal if you get this on sale for $130-$145! Would recommend!
If you can get it for the Price I paid, 145, it's a super great deal. The minute I got it, it sold out, so not sure if it will come back in stock at this price or not.
Needed to upgrade my internal storage for additional games - this SSD has been perfect for that, and at a great price considering the specs. No complaints so far, and appreciate the responsiveness of the drive for the games I'm playing.
The new SSD is very good. It was easy to install and worked right away after installing Windows on it. Easy to get from the store as well; no problems overall.
Best price found was at Walmart. This has a medium sized heatsink, that if removed voids the warranty. So make sure you have at least 1/2" clearance to accomodate the heatsink.
AI is ruining the prices for the regular people in the world on common computer components. Really good SSD tho. Would recommend if you can find for a non-exorbitant price.
Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1 TB SSD, bought online delivered locally from local Walmart store. This unit should NOT be sold in the US, it's a Canda/UK version. No warranty whatsoever, it says so when trying to register with Samsung.
