Sauder Costa Executive Desk, Chalked Chestnut Finish

It took several hours to put this desk together but it was well worth the end result. My desk is beautiful and day after day I realize how great the quality of this material is. I was not expecting the scratch resistant and easy to clean benefits. I love the washed walnut finish and without success I have been looking everywhere for this finish in other products for my living room and bedroom.

This desk is beautiful!! Perfect size, not a small desk at all. Drawers are nice size as we'll, the pencil drawer is my favorite. I looked and looked and looked for an affordable desk with a pencil drawer (yes I am old fashion). Very happy with this purchase.

bought 4 desks for my office. they do have to be assembled, which takes a little bit of work.

This is a very sturdy well made desk. It took me about three hours to put it together and I love the outcome.

This desk is very nice looking. The color is nice. But the material can be prone to scratches if bumped with sharp objects (with little pressure) so if you have kids or pets I wouldn't recommend. Unless you are accepting of that risk and don't mind touching up. Sauder easily replaces damaged material quickly and does have a warranty. Replacements can be ordered online. Pilot shipping delivered. I had to contact the shipping company to set up final delivery from closest warehouse. Signature is not required.

It has a large work surface, plenty of room for storage and the color and style are awesome. The build instructions were excellent- complete with little snack reminders along the way that made us laugh and get food during the project. The quality of the construction is excellent. Every piece was precise and went together without any flaws. I am really pleased with this purchase and will purchase additional pieces once they are back in stock. The customer service team is easy to work with and very helpful prior to my purchase. Delivery was quick. Its a pleasure to doing business with this company.

Great desk. It took me about 6 hours to assemble by myself. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Just take your time and read the instructions carefully. All of the pieces were well marked with identifying numbers. Really, it's a masterpiece of engineering when you think about deconstructing a desk and then creating a way for the average person to reconstruct it. All of the drawers line up nicely, no problems there. In fact, there are adjustment cams built into each drawer to allow you to adjust them if needed. Another genius engineering feature. The color is a weathered gray with warm tannish undertones. The package was well padded and all of the pieces were intact. There is one teeny tiny indentation on one of the edges that no one would notice unless they were looking for it. Comes in two boxes that are each around 100 lbs. I constructed it in the room where it lives so we wouldn't have to carry it up the stairs. It's a giant desk and sturdy. I elected to not use glue on the dowels when attaching the desk top because I know we will be moving next year and the only way I see this desk making it out of the house is if we can carry it in two pieces. Fingers crossed that it works because I wouldn't want to leave this beauty behind. I would definitely recommend this desk, and Sauder.

This worked out well, and I would recommend. The desk looks nice. It's a great size for a dual monitor set-up. Has lots of storage. The desk-top came dinged, and Sauder replaced it no problem. Sauder's customer service website is easy to use. The shipping process was not great. The contracted shipping company schedules a time to drop it off during business hours and won't unload it from their truck so you have to have another person on hand to help you during the hours they indicate. I would recommend Sauder offer a paid shipping option with fuller service coverage. The assembly instructions and videos were very clear. Assembling was a fun project. It took a handful of hours for one person and only required a second person for a few minutes at the end.

The desk is beautiful and the instructions are easy to follow while assembling. I have purchased this desk for half off since the color was discontinued. If I had paid full price I feel my rating would have been two stars. Here's why: -The pencil drawer will fall apart quickly and easily if you are not careful. the front panel is held on with one screw on each side and I ended up having to repair and re-enforce it on both desks I built. If someone bumps it with a chair arm while rolling in, its game over for that drawer. The desk will be functional without it though, and I nearly removed the drawer and kept the secret to myself. -The desktop finish seems to have a thick veneer, and I hope that as it ages we will not see the particle board underneath. The rest of the desk has a paper thin covering that is very easy to scratch and will peel after it is nicked. This is the most upsetting as I think bumping a drawer with a chair arm is going to visibly mar the desk permanently. -CAM locks! We will never escape cam locks with cheap furniture! Some functional parts like drawer slides are placed right over them. For every 10 cam locks or so, you will get one that will not stay in its recess. They tend to turn the whole eccentric, or sit "proud" of the surface. if a drawer slide is one this, too bad so sad. -Pencil Drawer Screws- A robust piece of wood is used to trim the pencil drawer surface flush with other trim. These are attached by wood screws that penetrate the wood about a quarter of an inch. When you think about the tapered edge on a screw, you realize there is almost nothing holding the wood in. I was assembling and dropped a screwdriver on this piece and it fell off! My solution was to use a countersink bit. I drilled DEEP into the piece so that the head of the screw would sit about a quarter of an inch or so below the surface of the trim. This doubled the length of screw that engaged the wood, It did not stab through the back. Its odd that Sauder didn't provide long enough screws for this piece. If you get it on sale, its a cheap and sturdy solution, I would NOT have this somewhere customers can see it as I feel it will age poorly.

It takes forever to put together. My boyfriend and I have split it up into days, but had we not it would take hours. Still not complete so trying to decide if it's worth it.
