Great company. Great TV

catpurs May 27, 2016

Our family has purchased 3 TV's from Sceptre. All of them have an excellent picture, but only one has good sound (the 40 inch). The Sceptre sound bars are also great, and with the price they sell them at, (TV and sound bars) it's not hard on the wallet to get a sound system from them too. Wal-Mart doesn't cover everything with their purchase protection, which really ticked me off when the coaxial piece for the antenna broke on my other Sceptre, but all I had to do is call Screptre, and they replaced the part for free, no questions asked. I called on Friday, and the part was in my mailbox on Tuesday. Who wouldn't love a company that does this? The only problem I have with this brand is you have to order their products online, as Wal-Mart doesn't carry them in-store. You can order it online and pick it up at the store though, if you don't want it delivered to your house when you're not home. I love my TV, and I love Sceptre.

Great for a my Macbook Pro!

McVizual November 9, 2016

My 13" Macbook Pro runs this display with no issues. My viewing distance is just over 2'. The only drawback is the menu. Could be a bit easier to navigate. I can't comment on color accuracy or what movies look like on it. For my purpose, this display performs wonderfully.

Easy set up

houghtenfamily June 4, 2016

Ok so I have only owned this tv for a week now, so I cannot comment on it's lifespan, but I can tell you that we popped it out of the box, plugged in the cords and it was simple to get rolling. It weighs next to nothing compared to the dinosaur it replaced, and walked you through set up. I had to google some questions about making our remote work with both tv and satellite, but otherwise it is a really nice tv for a great price. Sceptre came highly recommended from Walmart employee who sees other brands returned all the time. Had to purchase online and wait for delivery. Hope this helps.

Excellent UTV for the price

DerDan June 3, 2016

This has got to be one of the best text buys I've ever made. Prices have plummeted on 4K screens over the past couple years, but this is ridiculous. It really displays 4K res and does so without degrading the picture in any way. Moreover, unlike most LEDs (4K or not), this can actually play lower res content and still look good, even DVDs. Much like plasmas can. It is not a smart TV, but that is not an issue for me. My peripherals are smart already, so it would be redundant. My only real complaint is it does not easily accept 4K Netflix (YouTube is fine though). You basically need a smart 4K BD player, one that has built-in Netflix 4K app support. That is the only drawback of it not being a smart TV (although even some smart TVs have apps that won't support 4K on 4K screens, I've heard). Never thought I'd be able to afford a 4K screen so soon. Just a great deal.

Sceptre U435CV: Tweak the settings.

mcrider55 December 5, 2016

I have had the tv a couple of weeks and still tweaking it. Viewing from the side is good. I tried changing the settings on my own and wasn't having much luck until I found another's review that posted settings that was working for him. That helped a great deal. So I'm used those settings as a starting point and have been making small changes at a time. Blues need to be toned down in highlights and in darks. In movies beard stubble and eye shadows were more blue that black. If you are new at this, push Menu on remote. Choose Picture by pushing the Enter button. Push Enter again for Picture Settings. Picture Mode will be at the top and highlighted with a band. Push the right or left arrow on remote to see the differences in the built in settings. The changes you make will be saved in "User." While in User arrow down to brightness and push enter. The Brightness setting shows bottom center of the screen. Arrow left/right to change then push Menu. Arrow down to Contrast and repeat. I have my Screen Size set at Full 100%. For some older movie at 480i you may prefer a different choice. Color Temperature choices are User, Normal, Warm Cool. My Picture SETTINGS at this time. Brightness 55: Contrast 37: Back Light 55: Color 75: Tint -10: Sharpness 60: ADVANCED PICTURE SETTINGS. DC Contrast- ON: Film Mode- ON: VN Reduction- HIGH: DTN Reduction- High: MENC- ON: White Balance. R 124: G 120: B 105. Offsets- R 1024: G 1024: B 1010. Even with these setting Matt is the palest guy on the show in the morning and at night Jimmy has a sheen that his guests don't have.

Nice 4k for very low price

mush October 6, 2016

Screen reflects a lot of ambient light so is best viewed in darkened room. I use with antenna, so am not able to source 4k. 1080p works well and is sufficient resolution for TV viewing. 4k would be very useful if screen were being used as a computer monitor at close distance. There is no audio out that is volume adjustable by the TV. Even what appears as a head set output, in the manual, does not have volume controlled by the TV. I had to buy a separate 3.5mm to two RCA adapter cable to get the audio into my entertainment system, and I have to use the separate entertainment system remote to control the audio volume. It would be nice to use the TV remote to control the volume but that is not possible with this 43" TV. (Sceptre's 40" TV does offer volume control of the 3.5mm audio output.) I had to make sure the TV surround sound processor is turned off so it doesn't conflict with the surround sound processor in my entertainment system. This TV replaced my old 40 inch CRT tube TV. The flat screen feet extend forward from the flat screen over 4 inches, for stability. This forces the screen to be more than 4 inches away from the front edge of the surface supporting the TV. The old CRT tube used to be right up by the front edge of the cabinet, so I discarded the flat screen's feet, and constructed a stand for the TV using a flat piece of cabinet wood, corner brackets, and aluminum angle. I mounted this flat screen using the wall mount screw holes at the back of the TV, allowing the TV screen to now be as close to the front of my cabinet, as was my old CRT screen. The black bezel frame around the screen is very nice. It's only .5 inch wide and 3.3 inch of that is flat and rough textured to not reflect glaring light. The instructions provided are readable, but do not provide much information. The function of all the connectors is not very detailed. To compensate for this lack of information, however, I found the technical support line to be quick and professional. They explained to me that I had to press "5-1" on the remote to get channel 5, as just pressing "5" will not work. They also explained that the L and R audio output sockets do not work, and the only way to get audio out to RCA connectors, was to purchase a separate adapter cable for use with the 3.5mm output, and that doing that does not provide volume control. The TV did arrive in perfect condition and on the date promised. It has been working well, with the above mentioned limitations, for a week or so. I think it is a very good value for someone wanting a modern TV at a low price.

OK. I'm going to try it for a bit.

FBCMAP August 3, 2020

Good: Picture is pretty good. Using this as a computer monitor. It needs to set far back from where you are viewing it, but it is serviceable. This monitor has the resolution of 4 full HD monitors set next to each other. Bad: The audio is "tinny" and quiet. My old computer speakers are far superior. Also, there is a bad spot that is fairly noticeable, like a bad pixel, or more like a hundred pixels. I'm wondering if they would exchange it. When background is white, it is barely visible. When background is dark, then it appears much bigger. I know it is hard to get 8 million pixels perfect, but that's what we expect these days!

Spend a bit extra for a better brand

Julio August 8, 2020

TV looked great at first until I noticed that images would remain on the tv long after they passed, leaving a kind of ghosting effect that I never had with my old tv. Not recommended for playing non 4K content as content can get quite grainy, especially when using the component ports ,most likely from using a cheap upscaler. Also forget trying to use headphones via the 3.5mm jack since it outputs a single volume level that can't be adjusted with the tv. Overall I would avoid and recommend spending a bit more for a more recognized brand with a better display and smart capabilities.
