I like these because they are copper instead of steel, so they don't get rusty. these are more effective on aluminum pots and pans and cast-iron skillets than green scratchies, but they will scratch surfaces so I only use them on aluminum pans and metal spatulas, etc.
I really like the copper infused scrubber, the material it's made from does not cut or scratch your hands, on heavy duty jobs.
They're for a project, I expect them to do alright. Im stripping paint off of steel, and needed a scrubber in softer metal to minimize scratches or gouges.
These pads should never meet with Teflon as scarring the coating will make the pan toxic. Stainless steel, cast iron pans are best cleaned while they are very hot. Stainless steel clean best when cooking tomato based sauces and soups. For tough stains, soak in vinegar water over night and and then scrub. The smell is fragrant and easy to use to keep your copperbottom pans gleaming bright.
wire is sharp and thin. The cheap-o stainless pads seem to be better and are easier on your hands.
you can't just leave them setting on the back of the sink. Once used, they will rust even overnight. get a small mason jar and put them in it. they are worse about rust than the silver ones.
I originally ordered steel wool, because I always use steel wool to clean my carbon steel pans, not these “copper coated scouring pads” … Walmarts personal shopper substituted this item in place of the steel wool I ordered, instead of substituting another brand steel wool - which they did have other brands in stock, I went in to get the correct item I needed after the fact - just because they were both scotch-brite products, at least that's what I'm assuming. Yeah well, I wasn't waiting in their return line so I tossed them. I read they scratch good frying pans, not clean them. Oy vey, my dude. Oy vey
Not sure what people are using these to clean with, steel pans aren't it though because it doesn't work much and it rusted my sink overnight. I'm used to using the silver ones made out if aluminum I guess and It didnt occur to me the copper would oxidize so quick like it did so it's a one and done kind of product. I genuinely want to like them, i just don't know what you could efficiently clean with them
I had a very concerning experience with the Scotch Brite copper coated scouring pads and would strongly caution others before using them. I did not order these but it was sent as substitution. From the very first and second use, the pads left a noticeable rust colored residue while washing dishes. That alone was disappointing, but the bigger issue is a serious safety concern. The pads began shedding small metal fragments and fibers that stuck to the cookware even after rinsing. While cooking, I actually saw these loose fibers floating in the pan with the oil, which was shocking. This creates a real risk of metal particles ending up in food, which could potentially cause harm if ingested. Cleaning products should not introduce this kind of hazard, especially in something as basic as dishwashing. I stopped using the product immediately and would not recommend it. There appears to be a significant quality and safety issue that needs to be addressed.
THEN: I used these for decades, preferring them over any other scrubbers available. They worked well, didn't fall apart or get tangled. NOW: Simply put…what a piece of junk!!! I don't know if Scotch-Brite was sold to some unscrupulous outfit cheaping out on the build of product and counting on Scotch-Brite's previous reputation or if Scotch-Brite figured out, like others, that after the pandemic we will settle for crap! Copper scrubbers?? And they RUST??? I have no idea what they are using, but I know what I WON'T USE…these rusting, shedding balls of garbage!!!
