SentrySafe 1160 Fire-Resistant Box Safe with Key Lock 0.25 cu. ft., Black

This is a great substitute for a safe deposit box. I was paying so much in fees to rent a box that I purchased this safe instead and could not be happier with it. Everything fits in it perfectly and cleanly. Perfect for my small condo when storing it. I could not be happier although it is a bit heavy but that is what makes it fireproof!

The fire chest seems sturdy, and the lock works smoothly. A standard letter-sized document fits perfectly, but many of our documents had file folders that were too large to lie flat, so we just didn't put them in. It is certainly reassuring to know that all our essential documents are as safe as we can keep them at home.

Very nicely made but it is very heavy. Roomy but wouldn’t want to add anything heavier than paper. So find someplace else you don’t have to lift, if you have silver and gold. Lol

keys are real sticky...rough maybe...had to flood the lock cylinder with silicon wd-40 and work the keys in and out a lot before it started to get smoother...also there is left over foam dust form manufacturing all inside and it gets in the hinge pins ...so here again silicone spray to loose up the action and get rid of the sweek.

Sturdy and solid. Just a little worried about the keys and closing mechanism. When not locked, the box flips open easily. The keys are super flimsy and won't last long. And then what?

It serves its purpose, but the lock wiggles/is loose, so it can be tricky getting the key in. I returned the first one I'd ordered from Amazon and bought one from Walmart. It's a little better than the previous one but still has a loose lock.

The safe is fire-resistant, exactly as stated in the item's title. Luckily, I did not have to test the safe's fire-resistance but judging by its weight, it is resistant. It is also heavy. As for the lock reliability, it is a different characteristic, and I didn't expect much. The lock works good, unless the professional decides to open it.

Mfg box that was delivered looks filthy dirty, scratched up, which is odd because the mfg box was placed inside a larger Walmart box. The item itself looks like it was returned. There was paper dust inside the safe. The key locks but the safe does not close completely. There is a large gap. Fire and water will definitely get inside an item that is not closed. Poor service either on the manufacturer or Walmart maintenance of the items in the store.

This safe is faulty. when you lock it and remove the keys. if you bump it into anything the lid pops off and the latch releases so its literally useless

I purchased this item from a liquidation company that resells returns, to get a deal and keep it out of a landfill. It did not include keys. Purchasing keys costs about the same as buying a new safe with keys, so I guess it will go to the landfill anyway.
