This is a wonderful clock! My husband is brilliant in many ways but sometimes has trouble setting up simple things. He was so excited at how easy this clock was to set up for time, date, day and the rest. The illumination across the room is clear but not overly glowing. It's really perfect %26 he's very happy with it.
The display is nice and large, although I would have preferred a larger day of the week display. Set up was easy although the auto setting with the time beacon, WWVB, didn't initially work. The clock has 3 levels of brightness controlled by the snooze button on the top. An electric eye to change brightness based on the ambient light would be preferrable. What the instructions don't mention (I learned this with another clock) is when it's attempting to obtain the WWVB time signal, the display goes completely black for a time. The first time you notice this, you'll think the clock died, but it hasn't.
only connects to the atomic signal if we put it in the window. once we move it 2 feet away (to the bed headboard) it loses it. every night at 4am, the screen goes off while it tries to reconnect. there is no turning off the atomic signal search. pretty dumb. otherwise, it's a bright display with large font. so that's a good positive. wouldn't bother recommending
Nice clock, links up quickly to atomic radio signal. Only problem is that the display is WAY too bright for bedside use. Entire screen is illuminated (not just numbers), and the lowest setting lights up the corner of the bedroom at night. Can't use bedside!
Warranty? What warranty? The 1 year warranty requires that you ship clock to Berger %26 Co in new York at your expense ALONG WITH A CHECK for $6 to cover the cost of "Handling". So, for all practical purposes there is effectively no warranty as the time and cost to get a repair is not worthwhile. If not for the Poor Warranty, I would have scored it as 5 STARs. Looks great, very nice size makes it easy to see across the room, not "automatic dimming" - you can set the brightness you want and it stays that way.
Impossible to get it to work. I bought 3, YES THREE, thinking it was me, but none of them work. My neighbor, an engineer, tried to make each clock work properly (she's brilliant) and she was not successful. Don't waste your money. Get a sundial. The clock also does not let you set the clock an hour ahead or back when the time changes twice a year. Duh! THIS faulty ITEM IS NOT, I REPEAT, NOT WAL-MART'S FAULT. The vendor is at fault here. Truly.
For some reason, the clocks digits would disappear temporarily, which made it difficult for me, since I take care of an elderly uncle and i had to wake up at certain hours to of the night to check and see if he needed anything and make sure his comfort was adequate. Unfortunately, I had to return the clock. I would not recommend it to others, unless they are heavy sleepers and have no need to wake up in the middle of the night.
It's supposed to be an atomic clock, but it's we've had it a week now and it still hasn't connected and it hasn't updated to get the WWV signal I'm disappointed
When I received it, I hired a professional to come and set it up for me. He worked on it for over an hour, and he could not get it set that dimmer didn't work. The mini didn't work either. Our nurse recommended to anyone I would like to return it But the problem I throw the box away.
Useless clock that randomly displays a black screen instead of time, etc. The clock alternately shuts down and comes on again. Useless. Not sure the point of the battery backup - it does not run on batteries when unplugged.
