Ok I love this machine so easy to thread bobbin and needle threader is awesome!! Easy to change stitching. The all digital display is great. The bobbin tension adjusts when you switch designs. It comes with a nice case to cover. The only thing wrong is the door to get to the bobbin the hinge has already broke poor design. But everything else is awesome I love it!! The bobbin tension doesn't change with design like I thought but that's ok still works great! There are 7 button hole designs, 100 stitches, and 13 different accessories. There are basic, stretch and decorative stitches for every kind of project. The machine also has an extension table which is nice for laying the fabric out smoothly. One other thing that is great is the built in needle threader. This machine makes any type of project, easy to do. And the machine is purple! Love it!
It's a great sewing machine that meets the needs of almost any level of sewer. The pedal could be a little smother when pressed but overall a great little machine! Back stitching can be a little finicky and will bunch if your fabric is near the edge. The LED light is nice and bright and the needle threader is very easy to use.
I received the Singer 5560 Fashion Mate Sewing Machine as part of Walmart's Sparks Reviewer Program. What a versatile and easy sewing machine!!! There are so many options. The machine has 100 stitches. The can be made in various lengths and widths. This is so great for decorative sewing. The machine also comes with accessories. You get extra presser feet ,several bobbins ,extra needles and a brush to clean small parts of the machine. The machine also comes with an extension table to make it easy to work on your sewing projects. Personally ,I never had a machine that gave you an extension table. That's a nice feature. It comes with a needle threader. This is great for people like me who don't see as well as they used to. The machine also comes with the dust cover to keep it clean during storage. It also has a digital readout with pictures of the stitches right on the machine so there's no questions about what stitch you are using. Although the machine looks plastic it is made with metal and when you pick it up you can see by the weight that it is made with metal. The machine will last a long time because it is made with quality parts.Singer has been making sewing machines since 1851 so they really know their business. In fact I have an antique Singer sewing machine in my home that I use for show. If It can last that long you know there's quality behind their products. I'm happy to have this machine for my sewing needs.
I decided to make mask for my daughter who is a ICU nurse and the rest of the family. Trying to buy a machine during this time was like crazy SOLD OUT everywhere. Went online to Singer no problem...in stock and easy to order. I received my machine in perfect shape. I love my Machine, was able to make and donated mask to her hospital.
If you want a machine that does everything, this is it. It is very easy to thread with step by step instructions. It will sew in reverse and has 100 stitches to choose from. It even has an alarm when something is wrong and it's not sewing correctly. The bobbin is super easy to fill and load. I love the hard case it comes in. It looks very stylish. It does so many things, like sew on buttons, etc. I have not had time to try every feature out! This machine is great for the beginner or the seasoned seamstress. Comes with extra accessories that store in the machine itself. I love the extension table because it just slips right on.
Bought this Sewing machine to try my hand at making masks due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. This machine is so easy to use. Taught myself the basics by watching Singer YouTubes, and I have managed to turn out some pretty decent quality masks for my friends and family! The Fashion Mate is my new best friend. Thank you Singer!!!
I love the singer machines. I am not very experienced when it comes to sewing but I do use them to make blankets and pillows to send the the humane societies and I do some simple repairing. My fingers do not work like they use do to arthritis so some things are difficult for me sewing. Since I am not fantastic sewer on a sewing machine and any of them with the digital screens on them intimate me. I can say with this machine it was all for nothing. Easy to use. The only thing that I found is when you are paging thru the stitches on the screen it only goes one way. So if you find a stitch and decide you may want to look for another one. You will have to go all the way thru them to get back to the one you wanted. It doesn't go up and down. I love that it has an extended table it makes it so much easier to sew the things that are a little bit bigger. The material lays nicely. The hard cover for it is also nice. The stitches are easy to switch between as it will not start another stitch until you are completely finished with the last stitch. I can say that using the threader for the needle is difficult for me as I don't have the function in my fingers to get it to work correctly. It needs to be in a certain position and you have to hear the click. As my fingers are not nimble It is easier for me to thread the machine the old fashion way. The machine comes with all sorts of accessories. It includes: All-Purpose Foot, Zipper Foot, Buttonhole Foot. It also comes with a Pack of Needles, Bobbins that are metal. Not the plastic ones that I don't like. It has a Thread Spool Cap, A Spool Pin, 2 pcs of the Pin Felt, It has a darning plate , a screw driver and a seam ripper and a lint brush. I also own the Singer Simple sewing machine as like I said the ones with screens intimate me. but I can honestly say that this machine is as easy to use as my Simple machine.
I've been sewing my whole life and work in fashion. I have a 1979 Kenmore that I still use and love. This machine has additional (mostly decorative), stitches, and more automation, and a slightly larger flat bed attachment, but I don't like it more. It's good for a new sewer though. The machine threads easily and the mechanical needle threader is a great plus. The thread cutter is well placed and works nicely. Frankly I don't think snap-on feet are any easier than shaft feet. The automatic foot pressure seems to work well, but I'd still like to have a manual override. The needle always stops in the up position and I'd like a button to make it drop when I want to stop to turn my work with the needle in it. Must turn the wheel to drop it. I'm struggling to adjust to the foot lever being on the right as I'm used to it being on the left. The light is not bright or broad-reaching enough for me. I don't like the stitch length display. I'm guessing it's in millimeters per stitch? This should be in stitches per inches in the US. SPI is still the standard we use here. The accessory kit is missing 3 key items- a small screw driver to adjust the bobbin tension, machine oil, and most importantly, a straight stitching foot. I hate straight stitching with a zig zag foot. It lacks control because it gets caught up on hem folds. The motor doesn't hum as happily as my old Kenmore. It has more of a high metallic pitch. The plastic foot petal is ok but doesn't provide the feedback I'm used to from my metal foot. It sews fine. I had to adjust the bobbin tension a quarter turn looser to keep the upper tension on 5 and get a proper stitch. I tried all kinds of stitches and fabrics and it handled all well. Lots of options for mending tears! When hemming denim, I started at the bulky side seam and though it was doing fine until I found a thread bunch on the back. I also could not sew straight along the hem edge without a straight stitching foot. Everything fits under the awesome hard cover! The removable accessories bin snaps in front of the free-arm. Put the foot and cord on the sewing platform, then hold the flat-bed and manuals vertically against the front, up above the bottom, and cover. To carry, be sure to grab the machine handle, not just the cover, and put the other hand under the front. This is a good first machine for anyone. Just do yourself a favor and get a snap-on low shank straight stitching foot and slotted micro-screw driver before you start using it.
It worked 1 time then got error messages emailed support for help no reply from them. sent back after trying to use it a third time. Still waiting on my refund
Major issues! This thing would not sew together two layers of light-weight cotton without jamming. It left me in a bind in the middle of a project and when the computer glitched on me, it kept sewing after I had stopped pushing the pedal! I had to unplug it - scary!!
