SINGER HD6600 Heavy Duty Computerized Sewing Machine Metal Plastic Intermediate

I purchased one of these. got it out of the box. plugged it in threaded it for it to pop up and error on the screen stating that it was some kind of a motor malfunction. I didn't even use it. took it back to the store and exchange it for the exact same like item. the second item was able to thread it. make two stitches on a piece of fabric that I was testing it out on and it popped up the same error again. and ended up buying a brother's brand as I was not willing to go through a third sewing machine of the same type. my brother machine does not stitches tight as the first few stitches on this sewing machine did. however it does work.

Why would you sell a product without an instruction manual? you have to search for an instruction manual then they want you to pay for the manual and pay for shipping. if I had known this, I never would've bought this machine or if I had looked in the box earlier I would've brought it back.

I really like the machine However, there are no instruction . Only one page with directions how to thread it. Did not explain what the buttons on the front do, how to set for other stitches eg.zig zag. I had to resort to a Y Tube video for demonstration and information

What got my attention first was the color, nice gray, nice weight on machine (not to heavy), it was already threaded (nice surprise), instructions and different stiches a plus. And the pull out menu tells you which foot to use depending on the stitch you choose. I tried to sew some vinyl to reupholster an ottoman and it went thru it so smooth. I bought this Singer based on previous reputation and it has not let me down yet. My favorite feature is looking at the menu of stitches on the front of the machine, punching in the thread number and watching the machine sew it with ease. Also, I saw this same exact machine at about 3 other stores online for about twice the price. This truly was a great deal at Walmart.com and I just could not pass it up. The warranty is a good deal for the price and time.

I could not be anymore disappointed in this machine. After having a singer simple for two years my boyfriend decided to get me the 6600 for a nice gift and an upgraded machine... I was so excited and couldn't wait to try all the new stitches and to have all the upgraded features i.e. needle threader, multiple buttonholes, top loading easy view bobbin case etc. First huge let down was when I realized it doesn't come with a manual. Fancy new machine with loads of fancy new features no idea and/or explanation on how to use them, bummer. After finding the manual online on my phone and growing frustrated with the tiny text, low battery and screen locking constantly I was eventually able to figure out how to thread the machine and how to use the top loading bobbin... at long last it was finally time to lay some stitches! Side note the presser foot (any/all) fits so loose I was really hesitant to even begin stitching. It's not that it just moves up and down to account for the different fabrics like most machines, this thing wobbles side to side as well as actually having a slight horizontal twist all of which seems very sketchy specially given the speed at which it sews. Of which I was also unprepared for, it feeds fabric through so fast! Takes some getting used to but not necessarily a negative. So I've now had the machine just over ONE Month, and I had to call into singer support because I keep breaking needles, and not just a couple I've literally broken 7 needles in two days!! The kicker is that I'm only trying to sew through 2 layers of terry cloth!!! A Heavy Duty machine that can't sew through TWO layers of terry cloth are you kidding me?! The lady on the phone said I would wed to bring it to the closest warranty facility to have it realigned, seems simple right? Except the nearest warranty facility is 5 HOURS away! She says “oh! well, you can always just ship it to them, but you'll have to pay the postage and hopefully it isn't damaged during shipping”. “But once it's there singer will pay for the repair parts and labor”. I ask about how long do these kinds of repairs usually take to which she informed me that it's a privately owned repair shop so it depends on their schedule and their techs..... long story short calling this machine heavy duty is about like calling tissue paper card stock... there are FAR better machines on the market at this price point... I've switched back to my singer simple and have had no issues getting through the two layers of terry cloth for my project

I grew up with my mother owning a Singer. They just feel different than any other machine I've tried. (I've killed three other brands in the past ten years. Usually by the end of the first project.) I have completed five projects and I'm half way through six and seven on this new Singer. I am very impressed with the 6600C. My mother's machine was black and had a reversable plate for selecting a stitch (early-mid 90's). I think it had 100+ stitches. It may have had more stitch options but the 6600C sewed through canvas and denim like it was butter! I love it and I hope that it lasts longer than my mothers (which was a very long time)!

My wife loves this Singer but it has problems. It has lowered the needle all by itself. It has run all by itself pulling in the thread tails till it jammed up. Now we notice that the needle is hitting the hook in right needle positions. We don't feel we should have to pay for $$$ shipping to a Singer repair facility as the machine is less than 30 days old and has hardly been used. It looks like it will be returned.

No bang for your buck. This machine is not good, the thread keeps getting jammed. For $300.00 this should have been capable of sewing through anything. It will bird nest under your fabrics and the bobbin keeps getting locked/tangled. The see through casing is pretty cool though to see how much thread is on the bobbin. This unit is for BASIC needs nothing more. I was highly disappointed. Save your money for a JUKI or a another industrial machine. The Delivery was quick with up to date updates of when it's coming. It was packaged well, The machine was simple to put together and use. This unit was stated as a heavy duty machine….. it isn't. The exterior makeup housing is plastic and the gears I'm sure in the inside are metal. This will not handle thick materials, vinyl/leather. This is more so for softer type materials. O feel it used outside of that, you risk breaking this poor machine. It's a no for me. Thanks-

After using my 50 year old sewing machine that just died, this machine is a pleasure. I love the way you just push a button and you can select a different stich. The only difference I found between this model, the HD6600C and the HD 6800 which my sister purchased, is the 6800 has an automatic thread cutoff at the end of sewing. There could be more differences but my sister and I haven't found them yet. The good news is that this model, the 6600, is $100 less expensive than the 6800.

It was easy to learn and to get ready I love my singer, sewing machine. It is so easy to learn, and it has many futures on it. I look forward to using it for years and years to come come on everybody Jon the routine by a singer, sewing machine you will be glad you did it.
