I am a beginner and so far I have done very decent but this machine was very easy to set up and start sewing!! It has very easy start up instructions-but you do have to download the entire manual from Singer.com which saves losing the booklet of instructions (which I am known for misplacing manuals) but I was able to thread it up and start sewing within 15 minutes!! I did purchase a lower priced thread and it does break often but I am learning how to thread my needle and machine very quickly! so I would suggest to get higher quality thread. Very new user friendly and I love my machine cause it also came in black which I love more then anything.

I bought this as a "Secret Santa" gift for young seamstress who aspires to be a clothing designer. I wanted a machine that was smaller and easier to carry around. The fact that it was an all metal, mechanical machine would give this young lady a way to learn basic skills.

What a simple, yet powerful sewing machine. The graphics were self explanatory and there are plenty of tutorials online to help you out. I fixed some loose stitching on a pair of pants I had been waiting to fix. It worked without a hitch. Highly recommend for beginners.

A little bit tricky threading at first, important to thread under the staple like metal strip on top. Stitch selector a bit stiff to move I think it will loosen up some with use. Stitch is nice, runs pretty quietly. I like the style of it, I like the black that I bought. Very sleek, pretty. Over all I like it. I would recommend it.

Bought this sewing machine for my sister who is a professional sewer, and she loves it. She makes a lot of clothes and quilts, and she said it works great!

Hunk of plastic! So light it slips all over my desk when I sew. The Bobbin lid is a thin plastic that’s hard to hold and put back on without dropping it.

Important part is missing-the thread holder; sewing machine is in operatable without it.... very disappointed, set it up to sew this morning. I need that part or need to return item today.

The wheel to move the needle is tight hard to turn,The power preser foot is plastic it slides. when you press for powe and the handel to release and lift the presser foot is plastic and rough uncomfortable to my finger.

Poorly designed. The arm that should come out to thread the needle does not come out enough to run a thread is hidden between two plastic walls. The strength is so poor I could not sew a patch. It would not move the needle. Engine strength is very poor. The M1000 was much better, and this is supposed to be a later design...

Product is good but the delivery was very poor very poor. The fed ex guy delivered my package to another unit and another apartment. Lucky the tenant was nice enough to bring it to me. I don't know if I am going to ordered my Christmas present if the delivery guy is going to be delivering my packages to another address.
