SOL Waterproof Emergency Blanket XL

So glad I was able to find this on Walmart.com... I usually have to go to REI or Bass Pro to get this. This is the best Emergency Blanket on the market by far!

I think everyone that drives a vehicle should all ways carry this emergency blanket you ever know what could happen during the winter month.

SOL products are excellent. This Survival Blanket is the 2 person size, just right for hanging under my camping hammock as an underquilt. It actually reflects the body heat back to me. Works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The SOL Survival Blanket is a must have in any camping or hiking gear. It's packaged very small and is super light so it won't take up much room in my pack. The survival blanket is such a smart purchase and you won't regret having it when needed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This blanket arrived in a compact little pouch, but opens up to an ample 58" x 98", (roughly 5' x 8'). The compact pouch, (plastic storage bag) is fine when the blanket is new but, in reality, needs to be a little larger for practical use for storage once opened. This blanket is large enough to comfortably wrap around one person or act as a blanket for two. The blanket does all the things one expects from a survival blanket such as being waterproof and wind proof and doubling as a rescue aid by having one side coated highly visible "international orange" while the other side is bright silver acting both as a heat reflective surface and also being suitable for use as a "signaling mirror". The blanket is made from a "Mylar" type material which is extremely lightweight (3.2oz). The material appears durable but will stretch and deform if pulled. However, unlike some of the more traditional "survival blankets" this one is very quiet and It does not have that loud "crinkle" usually associated with them when in use. In conclusion, this blanket will serve very well for its intended purpose as an emergency blanket for you car, boat or outdoor pack.

Really works. Not really 2 person sized unless your really small but big and roomy for 1.

Wrapped up in one while cooking on the grill. Around 50 degrees. Didn't make a lot of noise, was flexible and reflected body heat. Only 4 stars because it really wasn't that cold out. Seems to work as advertised. Put one in each vehicle and plan on making an underquilt for my hammock.

I bought this blanket for supplemental heat during the colds nights camping on a cross-country motorcycle road trip. I tried using it in a variety of ways: wrapped directly around my body, wrapped around the outside of my sleeping bag, even wrapped around the outside of my hammock. Positioning made very little difference, as the blanket didn't reflect much of my body heat at all. The blanket is very large and the material is tougher and more flexible than other similar products, but its performance is pretty poor. I bought a Coghlan's blanket mid-trip for a third the price and though the material tore very easily, it was MUCH warmer than the SOL blanket.
