this basketball hoop was easy to construct with two people in a matter of hours. It is a quality hoop and the kids as well as the adults love it. I recommend spending the extra money for a quality product rather than going cheaper and replacing it in a few short years

First and foremost, let me say I'm greatful for the previous reviews on this site and others. Things I found especially helpful from other reviews: - Recommendation to lightly sand the inner/outer surfaces of the two main poles before trying to join them. I've read horror stories of this step taking hours to complete, but thanks to the recommendations I read before trying it myself it was done in ~10 minutes. - Recommendation to read through the assembly instructions carefully before delivery... To make sure you have the appropriate tools, etc. From beginning to end, the entire process took ~5 hours. To be fair, this included several breaks for things like eating lunch, playing with the kids, etc... I took my time and was deliberate with each step. Also, I did a majority of the work by myself. I did have assistance when needed from my two kids (ages 7 and 9) as well as my wife. NOTE: You will definitely need at least one other able-bodied adult to complete several of the steps involved in assembling this product. My initial impressions of the product after putting it together are, "It's very well-made!" After using it for a couple of weeks, I still have the same opinion. In short, I'm very happy with this purchase and fully expect this product to last for many years! Other thoughts that have crossed my mind: - 60" glass backboard with pro-style breakaway rim is visually impressive; especially for a portable system. - I had my doubts about the 'portability' of this system given its size, but I have to admit it's fairly easy to move around, even on a slight grade. - The square two-piece main pole is quite stout and the elevator arm height-adjustment system is well-designed. The result is a very realistic indoor court 'feel' to the backboard and 'bounce' to the rim (at any height); which is hard to find in a portable system.

I have had the 54” spalding beast for a few days and I can tell you that it's great. I was impressed by how solid all of the parts were when I opened the box. You definitely need some help with assembling the pole, attaching it to the base, and attaching the backboard. The instructions were pretty clear. We have played on it several times and it is great! It is so easy to move around the driveway too. I added the pole pad and backboard pad that you see in the picture. It would have been nice if those had been included. I hope that it will last many years and that Spalding will be easy to work with if I should have a problem.

This thing was delivered in 3 massive boxes on a pallet, and stood in our garage for 3 weeks. Finally got around to building it yesterday. It took 7 hours, but the end results was beautiful. A super-wide plastic funnel for filling in sand would have been helpful to include in the kit, but we improvised with a plastic bottle.

I had a wonderful experience assembling my new 54” Beast with my son. The instructions were very clear and the parts were well packaged in a way that made finding what was needed each step of the way straightforward.

We've had this set up for about 2 weeks. Family, especially the boys are really enjoying it. Assembly wasn't as difficult as I expected.

I conducted a decent amount of research on the Internet before deciding on Spalding's "Beast" as a portable basketball hoop for our driveway. Fearing that cheaper models would blow over and/or wear out quickly, I looked at more robust models and since other reviews of the Beast were very positive, I paid the extra $$$ for the quality. Simply put, it's a great outdoor goal. It's big, strong, and most importantly, a lot of fun for my two boys and their friends who now frequent our driveway seemingly day and night. There is a caveat, however, and that is that the Beast is far from easy to assemble. Other reviews stated the same thing but since I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I discounted the accounts of taking two to four adults four to five hours to construct. Boy, was I wrong. It took us Saturday and part of Sunday, mostly because I sheared off a bolt when assembling the pole to the base unit and had to go to the hardware store to buy a replacement. It was a little frustrating but as I mentioned before, the bottom line (now that it's installed) is that it's a great hoop and we're having lots of fun. Just don't buy this product if you're thinking it's a snap to assemble... Be prepared to invest a significant amount of time and effort before the fun can begin.

Well built goal with sturdy pole and backboard. I was a little worried about the goal shaking or not being stable, but that is not the case. I put it together in a little over 2 hours with my wife and 12 year old son. No major issues. The poles are heavy, which is good, but require some manpower.

The "beast" hoop by spalding is a very sturdy hoop. The glass is so nice compared to acrylic which I didnt think it would. The rim is really nice and the handle moving system also works better than expected. Easy to follow instructions and put together. Too many people complained about assembly but with two able people (and four to put backboard on) was a breeze. Just follow the steps and all will come together nicely. Thanks Spalding, well done.

The posts did not fit. Had to tele Spalding. They did send another one and it fit with a sledge hammer. They said happens to a few of them. I ask is they could fit it before sending it, and they said they could not get them apart if they did. So gamble on the fit, cause there is no QQ from them. Cost me a week and the assembly guys were nice enough to come back, ant least one of them.
