Great Saw, but Not without its Flaws

John May 19, 2016

Need an inexpensive saw to cut almost any type of wood? This saw can do that. In fact, I managed to cut wood studs, boards, and even natural wood on trees and it still roars like new thanks to its aggressive design pattern. It's also a short saw at 15" and you don't have to worry about having the blade wobble sideways. However, you also don't have as much room to work with, meaning that if you have to cut a larger piece of wood at once, this saw will still work, but you may have to cut the piece from different starting positions. It can be inconvenient for some people which in this case may want to purchase a longer blade. Also, this saw only has only 8 teeth per inch (9 PPI). While it does cut wood quickly, it also does leave a very coarse edge on both sides, especially when working with accuracy. One inexpensive method to counter this is take some sandpaper and work with the edges, which will make it smooth again. Furthermore, this saw also makes a significantly large cut, and when working with precision as required, allow some leeway of about 0.25 of an inch to ensure guaranteed length. Last, take good care of this saw, and I mean it. I left this saw in the outdoors for about a week with the metal being exposed to the high humidity and when I grabbed it again, almost the entire blade was rusted and while it still cuts wood, it doesn't work as effective. Granted, this was my fault for neglecting it, so I purchased another one. When you're finished with your project, store the saw back in its original packaging; don't throw it away. There are more durable saws that can withstand the humidity, but you'll have to end up paying more money for those. So yes, this saw can cut just about anything I threw before. Give some leeway length before cutting (only for precision cuts) and take good care of it, and it will give you the best bang for your buck.

Great little saw!

Steph August 8, 2017

I did have a bit of trouble cutting through some hardwood molding, but it ripped through the softer woods with no problem. I even managed to cut a few 1X10's down to 1X8's, no saw horses, no clamps, just me, the board, a chair and the saw! I got a nice smooth, straight cut! I'm 61yr old, old lady and don't have the strength I use to have. I don't do much wood cutting so a circular saw is a bit much for me, besides their heavy. I only gave it 4 stars because the handle isn't all that comfortable for my small hands. For larger hands it might be a comfortable grip!

This was my first saw so I can't really compare it. It meets my expectation and gets the job done, however, I have only own this product for a month.
