This one is my favorite type...but I always have 3 or 4. My previous ones had been "borrowed"....and not returned. So? I will not be loaning my tools out ever again.
My husband was tired of having to find a screwdriver in order to change out the blades of his old utility knife. This is perfect for a quick change blade and with storage in the handle too. He loves it!
My favorite utility knife easy blade changes. Fits well in pocket or tool bags. Surprisingly durable and easy to clean and reassemble i probably own a dozen. Of these and have them scattered among vehicles and around the farm. Have yet to kill one just normally lose 1 or 2 a year
Having used a multitude of razor knives, I have found that this particular knife checks all of my boxes. It’s easy to change blades, comfortable to use and has ability to hold 5 extra blades. Really nice tool.
For over 24 years, I have owned many utility knives from all sorts of companies. The last one was a Lutz 88 and it was very heavy and too bulky for my pocket. This utility knife, the remarkable Stanley 10-499 was introduced to the world in the 1970’s and unlike the Lutz 88, it’s still around because it is very lightweight, slim design, fits comfortably in my pocket and the handle feels nice and smooth. Compared to the rest, there is no comparison because we have an adjustable blade for the times you need to open a box without damaging the contents inside. It features a lanyard loop for your own personal preference, a convenient spare blade compartment without any magnets. There is no uncomfortable pocket clip to compromise your grip, making you more productive. The size is just over 6 inches long and the handle is much more narrow than the competition. This feels so comfortable in my pocket and the thumb slider just glides with a convenient push button quick blade exchange. The Stanley 10-499 has become my favorite utility knife of all time. The reason why this tool has lasted so long is because customers keep buying them (they really are THAT good). It fits in the pocket better than anything else out there. Recommended: Very highly.
The best tool to use on all the home projects is this knife with sharp and easy cuts bringing presice and quick results. The quality is way, and the design is cool.
Hands down the best utility knife that I have ever owned. The extra blade storage is great but the fact that the base stay secure and are quick and easy to replace!
i just got this today ,and could not figure out how to change blades ,and it had no instructions.... but i found a video on youtube that walked thru the instructions and now im 100 % satisfied with it, a great item ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-EOciCSNS0 here is the link to the video i watched for instructions changing blades hope it helps
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 10-499 is my favorite of the Stanley razor knifes. I have had several over the years and have never gotten the chance to break one because someone always steals it. I love the quick change blade an easy Access blade storage. I would've given it five stars except for the fact a couple of times cI would've given it five stars except for the fact a couple of times changing the blade it did jam and I had to play with it. And I do like the feature that allows you to cut string or box strapped without exposing the blade. Who ever is in charge of quality control needs to check out why It jams sometimes changes the blades.
Took it apart to get a blade like I do with my other box knife - never could get it back together - gave it to my son to mess with. I like simple things.
