Star Trek Deep Space Nine: The Complete Series (DVD)

Excellent gift for any trekker. It is the complete series in one case. I got it for $30 cheaper ordering it for pickup instead of the listed price in store.. weird, but i'll take it!

Great Star Trek series. Hadn't seen most of it when it was on TV, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it is. It's not quite up to TNG or OS, but it's up there.

The bones of this product are what matters, and it delivers: good DVDs of DS9. The quality is what you'd expect from a DVD, but that's ok and not specific to the show itself. The two plastic disc containers are cheap but workable. The discs sometimes pop out or can be mildly difficult to put back in, but again, that's expected.

It was way more affordable though the app than at the store. I'm not sure if price matching is possible. Again, I would have just picked it up there for the price.

It's nice to have all the episodes of this great series, but the menus are annoying. I would look for a different version that doesn't require each episode to play individually. Also several discs are stored in a stack; this doesn't feel like the discs will be protected long term.

The series is great - the best of the Star Trek universe. The DVD format though, could have been better. It didn't seem to mesh well with modern DVD players. Other DVDs would resume if we had to stop and turn off the player for some reason. These had to be restarted and progressed. I also didn't like the way the discs were packaged in layers. To keep the discs in order, we had to leave some sitting out while watching the second or third disc in a layer. There were no glitches during play, the "hidden" special sections were fun, and there were no inconsistencies with the episode order.

Stacked DVDs means scratched DVDs. Both my initial order and it's replacement were scratched—over a dozen discs each. You're better off trying your luck with the 2017 release which has single discs overlapping each other (as opposed to this 2021 release with multiple discs on spindles), or even the original DVD releases from the early 2000s—but even then it's no guarantee of a quality product. Such a shame for the series many consider to be Star Trek's finest.

This is a bootleg. Walmart needs to get these scammers off the site!
