StarTech DisplayPort to HDMI Video Adapter Converter

Just connect to the display port and connect any hdmi cable to it and works fine. To connect a computer to a flat screen tv was what I used this for. It also gives sound fyi as I was not sure display port to hdmi would but nice clear sound and picture.

I had to get a cheap computer after mine fried. The new one only had a display port and vga port, but I needed and hdmi plug in for my tv, so this worked fairly well for me.

I purchased a Digital Video to HDMI cable and at the check out it said delivery in 2 days. I thought, "yeah, right!" In gacr it arrived two days later even though I ordered it in a Sunday!

I bought this because I suspected the cheapo adapter cable I bought off Ebay was failing. Plug and Play and my connection was back up! Threw out the Ebay cable and this is now a permanent component in my system! A+++++

There are many products on the market that claim to provide HDMI signaling from a display port. Well thumbs up for this one! Plug and play. I invested in a HDMI to video composite converter for my old low tech TV; tested this display port converter with that device and it works perfectly. Now I can display my computer image and sound through composite video signal. I am totally satisfied with this product.

I had to hook up an LCD TV to an older laptop for a training room function and needed an adapter from the VGA on the computer to HDMI on the TV. I had a salesman from a A/V store tell me that a professional box, sold through his store's website for $170 would be my "best buy" (wink) for what I needed. Luckily I have a friend who works in an IT dept., who informed me that the StarTech adapter would be an inexpensive, sufficient alternative. He was right. His recommendation of this product allowed me to save my employers over $150 and made me look like I knew my stuff. It's not a "state-of-the-art" piece of equipment, and I have yet to witness it's longevity, but for the price, this item is tough to beat.

Works well enough that I'm not even sure which monitor is using it and which is in the hdmi port.

Good device but had some problem with audio

This device can be turned around to connect a monitor with Display Port input to a computer with HDMI output. Then it won't work. Even though it is a passive device, and the connectors work both ways, it won't adapt an HDMI output to a Display Port input. Now this is in the specifications on this web page. However, when one pulls this adapter out of a drawer, there is no indication on the adapter that it only works in one direction. There is no INPUT and OUTPUT marked. There is no arrow to indicate a direction for the signal. So you won't know until the connection doesn't work.

Talked with the Walmart rep and explained I wanted to hook my laptop to my new HD flatscreen. I told him I needed HDMI to the TV but USB on the laptop. The adaptor does not plug into the USB port on my laptop. Now I have to go back to Walmart and try again. Not happy since I had to wait 2 weeks for my order to arrive. Not happy!!!!
