The 3 portable file storage boxes I owned for years finally broke, so I gave these a try. These are very sturdy, and the big single latch is heavy-duty. I know these will last for years to come.

I was looking for a storage box to fit my legal files for inside my travel bag and this fit just perfect. Its sturdy and it even has a small storage area for pens/clips on top. Great price too!

This was perfect for legal and letter size documents for home use so i didn't have to buy a large legal container. Wish it were a tiny bit wider but it works really well so far.

For the most part, it's great. It's wide enough for both regular and legal length paper. It's adjustable to fit both. It has a compartment on top to put pens/paperclips etc in. It seems pretty sturdy. My only complaint is that when you put hanging folders in it the tabs on the hanging folders are too tall. When you close the lid the tabs bend over b/c there isn't enough clearance.

The box is helpful, however the quality isn't good and feels cheap for the price.

The lid closes so that it pushes down on any file tab labels and for a file cabinet I find that really annoying.

size is smaller than expected

This plastic portable file box was almost good enough to keep, but it broke on my first use of the closure/locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is a key component as it bears all the weight of the file box as you tote it. For me, I snapped the lock shut and it broke. It's just thin plastic at this important juncture and if it was only reinforced at this point, I think it would be a good purchase. But as is, it's just a matter of time before this breaks on you. I ended up with a Great find on ebay: a Vaultz brand, hard, sturdy portable file box with sleek metal handles on sides and one on top that's very professional looking! And it was just ten dollars more than the cheap plastic one.

When you insert file folders into hanging file folders, the lid pushes down on the file folders, bending them, but there is about 2-3 cm of empty space left at the bottom. They should design it to set the hanging file folders about 1-5 to 2 cm lower. The hinge for the lid is not plastic pins, which would survive reasonable wear of the material, but bending plastic, which will fail quickly. On the first day, it showed signs of stress failure. There were spacers on the hanging folder support bar, I guess to hold the hanging file folders to one side. When I tried to move them, they immediately broke off in my fingers.
