I bought this phone to replace my non-exploding Galaxy Note 7. There is nothing in the market that matches the Note 7 and even though the S7 Edge is the "best of the best", it is still a pretty hefty downgrade from the Note 7. The Android version is antiquated - for example, on the Note 7 I was able to multi-select text messages within a thread to delete; on the S7 Edge, I have to either delete the whole thread, or delete each message separately - somewhat tedious! Despite my gripes, I have rated it excellent because compared to the other devices around at the moment, it is the best phone available; yet it is still light-years behind the Note 7. Hopefully next year, the Note 8 will lay to rest the tortured soul of the Note 7 and Samsung will remember those of us who have kept faith in their products.
I switched from an iPhone 7 which I Ioved. Overall I find the new Samsung 7.0 N software a great experience to use. Wonderful features, was expecting a better battery life but the fast charge makes up for it. Overall very happy with the device and looking to keep it.
The phone is brilliant in all aspects, it's fast, sleek, functional and overall perfect for me. My only problem is the fingerprint sensor seems to often not recognise my fingers, I have even had it on occasions lock me out for time because I've had to try unlock it with the fingerprint so many times!
I've always been a fan of the Galaxy Note, even to arrange a holiday around the Note5 launch date in NYC. Gutted my the Note 7 debacle, I betrayed the Note to the S Edge family. Wow! This phone has it all, does it all, rare slowdowns, extendable memory, and the future Nougat update. It's a phone in shining armour, handsome on the outside. Smart on the inside!
I have always used Samsung Galaxy smartphones but the S7 edge far exceeds my expectations. I use the edge function a lot also the music sound is quite fantastic. I was going to purchase the S8 edge but it was a little too expensive but I am more than happy with the S7 edge.
Recently upgraded from galaxy S5 and was disapointed by missing features that were in previous models. No more infra red zapper (so cant control TV, virgin box, blu ray player etc), when you hold the 'capture' button on the camera it now goes in to burst mode rather than focusing the picture so had to install a third party camera app to counter this, the pages on the home screen don't loop around when you get to the end. The 'all apps' page does not seem to auto sort the apps into alphabetical anymore. No standard music player app anymore so had to download third party app. Apart from these few minor faults the overall phone is great and the gear VR is a lot of fun. Love the curved screen design (even if it is a bit gimmicky)
The only issue i have is that you can accidently touch the edge and pull out the menu because it curves right to the edge of the phone. And the keyboard would benefit from having symbols as 2nd function on the keys like HTC rather than needing to go to the sub page every time youbnedd a comma! Split screen is an excellent addition and embedded menu keys on the front are brilliant.
Has tajen away the very feature/option i bought this product ... as a semi disabled individual i relied heavily on the ability to assign colours to contacts and while in meeting have a visual reference to whome was trying to get in touch? Edge tech or edge lighting has been removed why? Kind regards mr R peberdy
Great phone .Pleasure to use.Glad i have this over the HTC m8 when i changed phones.Only down side is there is a thin red line running from top to bottom which i have been told is a common fault.Overal a 5 * without the fault If the S8 hadnt come out i would have gladly had a new S7.
After getting the phone in February I had the sim card replaced as the call kept cutting out on every call...After this it still kept cutting out so the phone was replaced and hey Presto!!! It cut out again so again the sim was changed with no joy so it looks like im stuck with this phone until my contract ends!!!
