Walmart is the best. Gamestop failed to deliver this game on time. I am so glad Walmart take gamers seriously. This should be the last nail in the Gamestop coffin.
You know I normally don't play the 3D games until I got Super Mario Odyssey. Well Super Mario 3D Land was my first 3D game for Mario. But when I got Super Mario Odyssey, I learned quick of the 3D mechanics and got used to it. When I got Super Mario 3D All-Stars, it made me get used to the 3D mechanics more and more.
Super Mario 3D All-Stars contains Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. All three of these games look wonderful in HD. And in the case of Super Mario Galaxy, the spin attack can now be used with the Y button, rather than requiring the player to shake the controller. If you've never played these games before, this a great way to enjoy them. Also, the stickers included with the game were a nice bonus.
I loved playing Super Mario Galaxy as a kid and was so happy to hear it was being ported to the switch. i tried out each game for an hour each and then went to completely play Galaxy. The controls for each game are super easy and makes the game feel easier to play than the first time i played any of them.
A great collection of nostalgic games with sharper graphics. The lack of gamecube controller support is disappointing, and therefore the controls sometimes feel a bit off while playing (I'm hoping they can patch in support at a later date). All in all, I believe it's a good value and a great opportunity to own some classics on the switch.
Mario 64 is still a classic that controls well but the camera is a major issue. Mario Sunshine is well-designed but the game is buggy and clunky, very obvious it had a rushed development to get it on time for the Summer of 2002 Mario Galaxy is an excellent Mario game trapped under terrible forced motion controls. If I could be honest, if Wal-Mart allowed the return of opened Video Games I'd probably want my money back instead of keeping it.
Awesome to play old games that I grew up playing as a kid. Some of the controls are not the same as the original. Controller configurations are a bit different.
Im docking one star because this item was supposed to come with stickers as a bonus however my copy did not come with any stickers at all. Im docking another star for the price and availability of the item. This game costs as much as a brand new AAA game for a collection of what is essentially three old games running in emulation and its only available for a limited time, even the digital version. Im docking one more star for the quality and presentation of the content. This collection doesnt have the usual Nintendo quality that Mario games typically have. It appears to be a hastily made compilation of rom files running on unpolished emulators. In fact, there are even some very visible artifacts that appear because of the buggy emulation. In addition, the controller button mapping could have been better as well, and they didnt include GameCube controller support for Super Mario Sunshine. Overall, however, the games are still just as fun to play as they ever were, so I give it a star for that, making my final rating 2 stars out of 5. If you like Mario games and havent played these, I would say this collection is worth it, but if you buy it from Walmart, dont expect to get the bonus stickers.
I bought Nintendo switch AFTER this LIMITED time release expired, so I was bummed I missed out. I even searched Wmart site and verified DIGITAL DOWNLOAD NO LONGER AVAILABLE (my preferred format) Flash forward to March 2023, and checked again considering physical copy. Low and behold digital version available, and I purchased for $60. Thought it might be offered again for Nintendo's mario month promotion. NO IMMEDIATE DOWNLOAD CODE AFTER PURCHASE (as advertised) . Nor was one sent after a week! In fact, they took my money and sent ZERO communication, even after several inquiries. So i requested cancellation with explanation really wanted product but received nothing. DAYS later and several more inquiries I received order cancellation. Now i get to spend more hours reconciling my bank account. My biggest problem, besides ZERO company response after THEIR MISTAKE, is WHY A WMART EMPLOYEE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE WEBPAGE SHOWING PRODUCT UNAVAILABLE (this way for well over a year) TO SUDDENLY AVAILABLE AGAIN, ALLOWING THEM TO TAKE END USERS MONEY AND HOPE THEY DO NOT COMPLAIN! How can this be reasonably explained. SHADY or INEPT? No explanation. No apology. No class act. No professionalism.
I purchased this as of 2pm yesterday, and it's now 7am this morning and I haven't received this game. They only have to send a code. That's it. Walmart takes less time to put a physical game in the mail than their digital delivery department takes to type up a simple email. You would think in 2023 that a multibillion dollar multinational corporation would have automated this process. But no, and I have read that others wait, too. I even called customer service, who “escalated” my complaint to the “highest levels” and so far nothing has been done. The order is still pending. I suspect Walmart may cancel the transaction, excusing it as them not having had the inventory their online store said they had (there were 2 codes left when I bought mine).
