The Best Alternative to Huy Fong

Brandon September 4, 2024

I have tried a lot of alternatives to Huy Fong (Rooster) Sriracha. This is the best one I've had. It only has a slight touch of Tabasco infused but it gives the sauce a lovely complexity.

Do you miss how Sriracha used to taste?

OhioJeepGuy April 25, 2026

This is my new favorite it's Sriracha! I loved Huy Fong for years, but they switched the type peppers that they used from red jalapeños to red chilies, which were cheaper and more readily available. Tabasco uses red jalapeños, and I can definitely taste the difference. If you are a flavor over heat lover like I am, then you will love this Tabasco Sriracha. It's still hot, but flavor is amazing! I bought extra bottles for work and on the go.

Now my favorite Siracha.

SpaceDust February 23, 2026

A few years ago, there was a Siracha shortage when an injunction was placed against one of the biggest producers in the USA. That sent me scrambling to find a replacement. Which led me to Tobasco brand Siracha. It took a few meals but I quickly started to really enjoy it %26 even now that the other brand is readily available I still opt for this one!

This sriracha is superb! The heat level and taste is even better than the brand we used to use, that disappeared for a while and is now available again, but they are way too proud of it. The Tabasco Sriracha tastes better is much more affordable!

May be the best Sriracha sauce on the market

Daryl January 9, 2023

This Mcilhenny branded Sriracha is a lot more than an acceptable alternative to the Huy Fong Sriracha sauce. I've been using and loving the Huy Fong sauce for years but now prefer the Mcilhenny version as I think it has a slightly cleaner less muddled taste.

Very good in the face of competition!

Alan October 25, 2022

Was unable to purchase the Huy Fong brand and the Tabasco brand was substituted! While I still prefer the Huy Fong brand the Tabasco brand is very good! We use a lot of the sauce so now we have two brands on the table. I am probably prejudiced to the Huy Fong story of a man and his company, but the Tabasco brand has a incredible history! Both seem to be of the “best” quality! Have tried other brands, but these have turned out best for our needs. You can’t go wrong with either brand!

I purchased and tried 3 siracha sauces within the same month to find my favorite. I found that this, the Tabasco, was the worst one right off the shelf. Warm, this sauce sucks. Once you chill it though, which is how I like my sauces, it has a really nice chili flavor and tastes better cold than Huy Fong by a mile. I originally hated this sauce but I've grown to love it because it fridges so well.

Just as Good when Huy Fong isn’t available

Anonymous June 28, 2023

I prefer the original green capped Huy Fong Foods but this is a very acceptable alternative when I can’t get it. Of all the alternatives I’ve tried this is the only one I can stand as a real substitute. I keep bottles of Huy Fong and tobasco brand in reserve for when I cannot find it in the store. But if I use a bottle, I get a replacement immediately to keep my reserve at 2 extra bottles. I cannot be without this stuff as it adds so much in terms of flavor. The folks that hate on this brand saying it lacks flavor or spice are mistaken I believe. And the ones giving one star I really don’t understand at all. This stuff is just as good when the original is unavailable.

Good stuff and no chemicals...

WalmartCustomer September 16, 2016

This tastes the same and is delicious just like the imported sriracha sauce but no chemicals that are hard to pronounce. All just plain natural ingredients that will light your fire. Remember; if a first or second grader can't read or pronounce it don't eat it !!! If it's made by a person in a white coat, you will soon be getting treated by a person in a white coat.

It works - but it’s weak.

mommabear September 17, 2022

Let me start off by saying I like spicy, but don’t *love* spicy (I won’t try ghost pepper Anything, and don’t use hot sauce on most things, but Do enjoy spicy sauces on occasion or a nice smooth kick to things) THIS IS NOT SPICY. It’ll work, if you can’t find the rooster one, but it’s not as complex and you’ll need 2-4x as much. Might be a good option for someone who enjoys the texture more than the taste Tabasco has stepped their sauce game up significantly, but this ain’t it. (Noting their sweet
