Simple yet pretty. 2 of the bowls arrived broken but this was handled quickly and with ease and new box was sent for replacement. This is a great starter set. The bowels are nice size for soup or cereal.

I really like the classic, neutral design of these plates! They are a great weight. They are much lighter than the stoneware they replaced. They have held up to normal use well. I really wanted a set that didn't include matching mugs because we have plenty of mugs already; so that was also appreciated!

I absolutely LOVE these dishes! The are light weight, beautiful finish, and good quality. The bowls are a great size. Not too big, not to small. The only reservation I had about the purchase, was how the bowls stack together which you can not tell from reading the description or viewing the photos. I was concerned about how much space they would need in my cabinet. Four bowls stack approximately 6 inches high. These are very classy dishes, I recommend them and would definitely purchase them again.

Very beautiful for the price - a real steal in porcelain. Almost too pretty for everyday use. May need to go to the Dollar Store to get a throwaway $1.25 dish for everyday me. I only wish, now that I see them, that I could add a few matching serving pieces onto this set.

Love the looks of the mugs

They are heavy, off white and beautiful in person. The largest bowl is big enough to use for a party salad and more. The middle bowl is perfect for someone that likes to eat large portions of something like salads or something hot. The material will definitely hold up well with any temperature. The smallest bowl is large, but small enough for a small portion eater like myself but I still love it. I just grab something smaller when I want ice cream. You can use the two smallest for daily eating if you have good eaters in your family. I can only hope my family doesn't knick them in the future because they are so beautiful.

Mikasa made changes to their Italian Countryside pattern and when I tried to replace some dinner and salad plates I was so disappointed to find they didn't match my existing pieces. I had to send them back and had to argue with the company for a shipping label. I did a Google image search on the Mikasa set and this came up as visually similar. The dinner and salad plates are slightly smaller but will work just fine with my Italian Countryside serving dishes that are still in great condition. I ordered 3 sets and they all arrived in great condition. There are some minor blemishes on a few but they aren't bad enough to warrant a return. When I consider the price difference between this and Mikasa, any slight imperfections aren't a concern. My only reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 are that the bottom rim of the dishes isn't smooth and polished and there is a very prominent black MetroHome brand stamp on the bottom of each. I store my mugs upside down so this stamp is slightly annoying and cheapens the look of the dishes. Very minor issues. I do wish this brand sold open stock because I imagine needing to replace plates long before any mugs and bowls just because they will get used more. But this set is inexpensive enough that I could just order a whole set, take what is needed and donate the other pieces.

they are not dinner plates, they are disks! Who would want to use a flat disk to put their food on? The best pieces in this order are the cups and the bowls. I was very disappointed with this order they're not worth the price and should not be above $29.99. Now I must purchase some decent china again!

I really wanted to love this set of china. I love the simple design and the weight of the plates is perfect . Several of the reviews already spoke to the fact that there are black specks in the plates, some plates are lopsided, and some of the bottoms are rough. This was our experience too. If you want a set of cute, everyday dinner ware that's affordable, but you know you will need to replace them down the road, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these. I was hoping these would have been a little better quality. Even though they are porcelain, they are similar in quality to what you'd buy in Walmart or Target. Thus the retail price.
