TCL 98” Class S5 S class 4K UHD HDR LED Smart TV with Google TV, 98S550G

Replaced a higher end 75" for this bigger one. Was a little worried about potentially giving up picture quality for this larger, not "high end" (priced) TV. OMG, am so glad I did it. Some TCL TVs I have are GREAT pictures, some are not. This is a GREAT one. The picture quality is just as good as my prior high end, but smaller TV. It even has a built in subwoofer on the back of the TV (I still use external sound system-but worth mentioning). I highly recommend!

Its huge and really looks great. The 4k movies are amazing. Watching sports is like being in the stadium ir in the field. Beatiful 4k. Very bright display, even in well lit room. Wish remote was backlit but honestly you don't need the remote w voice activated google assistant. Did i mention that it pauses and rewinds live over the air tv with a usb drive? It is ginormous!!!

The picture quality is beautiful. The size is like being in a private theater great sound even without the soundbar.

We have been using tv for about 3 months. So far we really like it. TV struggles with some colors and whitewashing (snow) on some movies and shows, but I expected some of that at this price range. Also doesn't automatically detect our soundbar like our last tv. So the soundbar has to be manually turned on each time. So much of an annoyance that we quit using our soundbar. Sports are great on this TV. The 98” size itself outweighs the few small issues we've noticed. Would definitely purchase again.

We ordered this TV 7 weeks ago. The first one arrived shattered. It was an ordeal to get the freight company to pick it up again and then we had to wait THREE WEEKS for it to make it back to wherever it was going before they would ship our replacement. That one just arrived... also shattered. Pictures of both are included below. We are giving up, so cannot speak to the quality of the TV itself, but the shipping company is terrible.

The TCL 98" TV screen Walmart.com shipped was cracked so I went to the store down the street to ask how to exchange and they said the only thing I can do is get a refund and then purchase the TV again. I said the TV is now $1000 more and they said call 1-800-Walmart and they can help you with that. They told me that they have a "no price match policy" and since the TV was not eligible for exchange - that getting a refund is the only option. I said I don't want a price match - I want you to supply me with the television that I purchased - one that's not broken. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they were on another call. So I called back again and went through the process of getting a supervisor and unfortunately he said prices change and the same item is now $2998 instead of $1999 and offered to help me buy an 86 inch tv or a 100" Laser tv that would be in my price range. He suggested I hold onto my money and wait for a similar item to go on sale and that he was told that some similar tv's would be going on sale 24-35% off in the coming weeks but he couldn't tell me which models. He also said that they cannot control the prices that TCL sets when they ship third party. He really was trying to help. Then I went back to the store I returned it to and spoke with a manager and he confirmed this was an item sold and shipped by Walmart and to keep going up the ladder to get a resolution. The TV is still in stock at Walmart.com albeit for $2998 instead of the $1998 I originally paid. I could have picked Amazon or another seller to buy this TV and they would have made things right - but I instead chose Walmart because of pleasant experiences I've had at the store level in the past. This just does not seem like proper business practice to sell me a TV for $1998 then when they shipped a defective unit, and it is no longer on sale anywhere else, make me pay a thousand dollars more to finally get the same TV. I would understand if it was no longer in stock - but the TV is in stock - it's just no longer on sale. I don't have a choice to get a smaller TV as the custom wall unit has already been constructed - nor should I have to get something different than what I purchased. Not sure what to do other than start making calls and sending letters and posting what happened all over social media and the internet, which I will do if I fail to get a resolution shortly. PS. On top of all this - the recommended mount did not fit and had to be returned.

Item never arrive. After 5 called and hours staying on phone with Walmart ppl. So much for trusting Walmart with their service and product. Will never order another big item from them again. Wasted 10 days on this, talked to a so call supervisor and it's just another way to waste your time. what a joke.

Lousy product quality and support/warranty service. Right after one month of purchasing it, I started seeing a thin permanent horizontal line across the LED. I raised the issue with TCL warranty since Walmart's 30 day period was over ( too short for expensive purchases). TCL warranty customer service was provided the items they asked for - purchase receipt, serial number proof and umpteen pictures of the issue and even product information. Their SLA was 24-48 hrs to provide resolution. They kept coming back and asking for one or the other of the already provided information, again and again even though they had it. They don't seem to have a competent staff or database that saves customer provided information so they can revisit/review. They have been quiet for last 2 days and I have had to call in TCL support to ask status and revisit the data/documents provided that they keep asking for. Support confirmed reviewing/receipt of. It has been almost 6 days...no step forward. Very disappointed. Customer really should not have to do so much of work when they pay so much.

THE SHIPPING COMPANY WAS SUPPOSED TO CALL BEFORE DELIVERY--THEY DID NOT! THEY DELIVERED IT A WEEK BEFORE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. THEY DRAGGED THE TV ON MY DRIVEWAY--DESTROYED THE BOTTOM OF THE BOX! THEN THE TV WAS LEFT OUTSIDE IN THE DRIVEWAY, LEANING AGAINST MY TRASH CANS. WET QEATHER WAS ON THE WAY TOO. THE DELIVERY COMPANY GAVE A PATRONIZING APOLOGY, BUT DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. I DID NOT TRUST THE TV'S INTEGRITY AFTER SUCH A SLOPPY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNPROTECTED DELIVERY. BUY THIS TV FROM A BEST BUY OR OTHER RELIABLE ORGANIZATION, THE HAS QUALIFIED DELIVERY PERSONNEL. WALMART DID REFUND MY MONEY, BUT I QOULD HAVE RATHER HAD THE TV. PLUS I HAVE A COVERED PORCH AND THEY WERE TOO LAZY TO PUT THE TV THERE. LUCKY NO ONE STOLE IT SETTING OUTSIDE IN THE OPEN, WITH NO ONE HOME. OVERALL A TRULY AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS TV THROUGH WAL-MART. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS FOR DAMAGED TVS. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE AND THE WARRANY DOES NOT COVER IMPROPERLY DELIVERED PRODUCTS.

Bought 1 tv - 1 day after delivery; Walmart would not price match- they reduced the tv by $532 with tax. So I returned (unopened) - 1 week later they will not refund my money. TV number two purchased and it has lines going all through the screen and it is damaged. Sent this one back too. Stay away from buying large priced and large items from Walmart.com- it is a terrible experience! Attaching a picture so that you can see the damage.
