Thyme & Table Acacia Wood Mortar & Pestle

I love everything about this mortar and pestle. I collect them, and this one is easily my favorite. I love the wood detail and how cute it looks in my kitchen. I'm so glad I added this to my collection.

This review is for the Thyme and Table essential collection acacia wood mortar and pestle. I love this wooden mortar and pestle in acacia wood with turquoise blue accents. Not only is it a handy essential item to have for any kitchen but it looks lovely too sitting on my cabinet. You can tell that it is a high quality well made item. It is so smooth to the touch. This mortar and pestle is Perfect for grinding sea salt or black peppercorns or any herbs you collect and dry from your herb garden. It will be great for making fresh pesto that my grandson loves. The bowl is quite deep and allows you to work without making a mess on your countertop. Works perfectly! And It compliments and fits perfectly with my wood cutting board. Please note that is hand wash only, as most wooden products are. I am very happy with this mortar and pestle and will always leave it out on the counter to show it off. Five stars for this awesome essential kitchen item by Thyme and Table.

I love this mortar & pestle! It's a beautiful wood with a pop of color on the handle of the pestle. Since getting it I've found I'm using it daily & loving how it's taking the taste of my meals up several notches. I've mashed/ground everything from peppercorns and garlic to basil and about every spice between. Having the ability to grind spice & herb combinations together really allows their flavors to flourish. You can't toss this in the dishwasher which is fine since it's so easy to clean. A drop of soap & warm water is all that's needed. I really like that I didn't have to season it like my old stone one. I noticed someone else mention the colored top of their pestle came off. That must have been a rare lemon. Mine is very sturdy and I've been giving it a serious workout. The other thing you can't do is allow it to sit in water. Maybe that's why the top of the handle came loose. This would make a wonderfully unique gift for any occasion for home cooks of any skill level. I'm ordering a 2nd one to stick in my granddaughter's hope chest. She loves adding kitchen goodies for the day she graduates from college & gets her 1st apt. She loves mine - she'll love having her own even more.

I've always wanted one of these, I'm glad it's made of such nice quality wood, I'd rather have a wooden one, than one that could crack. I like baking with flax seed, and grinding it into flour for crackers, or cookies. It works great for that purpose. I have an electric hand grinder, but I like having this on hand. It's very easy to clean compared to the grinder.

This is a nice wood set! It washes well and does what it was made to do! Very pleased with it! The wood is very beautiful! Worked great to make my dried cilantro and put it in the seasoning containers! Ill be using it next to make parsley seasoning from the garden and hopefully basil too! It has a cute teal painted accent color!

This is an attractive mortar and pestle set. The acacia wood is a warm, natural tone with blue a cents in the bottom of the bowl and the pestle. The pestle is long enough to get a good grasp on while using. Looks great when not in use as a decor item for open shelves.

I’ve been needing a replacement for my very old “pilón,” as we call it in Puerto Rico, and this one is perfect. I love the glossy finish and the touch of color. The mouth is wide and roomy for crushing many herbs and spices. I can’t wait to make some Mofongo with it!

I love this mortar & pestle set! It's super cute and I love the colors. It really looks great in my kitchen. It's made very well, the bowl is nice and thick and smooth as well as the handle. It works great for grinding herbs and spices. It's made of Acacia wood and has a beautiful color. It's easy to hand wash clean with just soap and water. It's great, I highly recommend.

I have to comment on the blue accent of the both the wooden brown and pestle, makes it pretty to use. Goes with my color scheme in out kitchen. Useful in the kitchen for many cooking preparation process, ie crushing panko bread crumbs, parmesan cheese or Ritz cracker for side and main dishes. It is also useful when preparing cilantro for homemade salsa. Recently recovering from jaw surgery, it was used it to crush some meds I was unable to swallow, real helpful a real plus. It is easy to clean, rinse, wipe and dry. Easy store in my cabinet with other cooking necessities. Benefits are numerous, very well made and durable. Would highly recommend

This Mortar & Pestle set has a smooth wood surface. It is 4" high and 4" wide. It has tall sides that keep contents from spilling out, which prevents minimal kitchen messes. Its weight of 9.37 oz w/o pestle and 11.27 oz w/pestle provides extra stability while in use. It is the same height and width as my 16oz coffee mug! I was able to quickly grind dried whole basil and oregano leaves in seconds to use in my homemade pasta sauce. I was able to crush my Egyptian Chamomile Tea leaves into both fine and coarse textures to use in my tea ball. I also used this set to crush my dog's daily vitamin tablet into a fine powder and put it in her food. It has so many uses, saves time and is easy to clean. This smooth set did not work as well when I tried to crush whole garlic cloves, as I had to really work at it to get the consistency I wanted: I needed a mortar with defined ridges when texture is more important and aids in breaking down tougher items like sesame seeds, peppercorns, tenderizing the skins of hot chiles, and pounding glutinous rice. But for dry spices, this set is excellent! I just wish the bottom of the mortar had non-skid silicone, like my mixing bowls. I was impressed with the overall design and function of this set.
