Thyme & Table Stainless Steel Fine Grater & Zester

The Thyme & Table stainless steel fine grater and zester had a nice look, comes with a guard for a when it's not in use, the handle is amazing and easy to hold, and the zester does an amazing job! I was able to zest my citrus in no time at all, and the zest was extremely fine without clumping up.

This handy item is a Stainless Steel Fine Grater & Zester from the fine folks at Thyme & Table. I've been wanting for a while now to try out one of these grater/zesters, and this one seems the perfect choice! So far I've used it for grating hard cheeses, for zesting lemons & limes to add a great citrusy flavor .. for grating zucchini .. and for one of my favorite quick recipes, a carrot raisin salad. This tool is PERFECT for finely grating the carrots - just like I love them! What else do I love about this tool? That it's stainless steel .. that it's got a lovely, cushy easy-to grip handle .. and another plus is that there's a plastic 'sheath' that snaps on to cover the grating/zesting area so there'll be no skinned knuckles when I put my hand in the drawer to pull it out to use! The clean-up is simple too: I washed it in warm water before the 1st use, and, to preserve its elegant gold finish, I'm avoiding abrasive cleansers that might mar it. After each use, it's so quick to wash it by hand, dry, snap on the protective cover, and slip it back in the drawer. It's not an item to pop into the dishwasher, but that's a good thing because, like all sharp things, it needs to go back in the drawer and out of harm's way when not in use.

WOW is this thing sharp! I have a block of cheese that Ive been avoiding using because its so hard and I have nothing that will grate it without an enormous amount of effort. This grater just went right thru it. Looking forward to pasta with fresh grated cheese. Nice secure handle, stainless steel blade. Hand wash only, no dishwasher. Comes with a nice cover for the blade.

This stainless steel fine grater and zester is very long. The grate part is longer than a standard butter knife. This is very well made. It is very durable. The handle is sturdy and fits into my hand with no problem. The cover is excellent for storage. The main feature it does not have that it could have is to take the holds out of the holder so that the holder could be put on the bottom and when you grate herbs then they would be caught in the holder. But for now, you have to grate cheese, herbs or zest citrus in your bowl. This stainless steel fine grater and zester is a must have for all cooks and is an excellent product.

I got this with zesting jn mind, so when he used it to grate parmesan, I was aghast...then surprised, and THEN, really amazed! The parmesan came out PERFECTLY and clean-up is a snap! We just do a quick pre-brush under hot water, then run it though the D/W! Looks brand-spankin' new! And actually ZESTING...it does a fabulous job of that, too! The way the tool is shaped actually contains and guides the shreds where I want them and the protective sheeth keeps fingers from getting grated when the tool is not in use. Well-done Walmart! Well Done!

This is nice and sharp and makes really good lemon zest. I have tried a lot of tools for making lemon zest and this one is the best. It makes a nice pile of fluffy zest. I'll be using it on parmesan cheese and to grate a little dark chocolate into my lattes or over desserts.

This zester is perfect! Not only is it durable but it's beautiful! The size of the blade and handle in proportion to each other is spot on for best handling while using it. The blade is sharp, burr free unlike some cheaper off brand zesters and in the same sense, this zester is also more durable in strength of the blade. This fine piece of kitchen must have is definitely one of the best I have ever used. It grates zucchini squash and carrot with ease, I have not tried block cheese yet but I would think it will handle the task expertly as the blades are thin and angled just right for a nice even shred. A nice perk is that it comes with a little durable plastic cover for when it's not in use.

I have another one that is very similar that I got from a restaurant supply store. This one has a little more drag to it when sliding a lemon over it,…..however, it is much easier to grab the grated peel from the back side. It comes with a plastic cover,….don't throw that away,….it keeps the fingers from getting cut when digging thru the utensil drawer. This tool definitely gets the job done and is much easier to store than a larger grater.

I'm not much of a cook but since retiring I have been expanding my methods and learning new skills. I never owned a zester/fine grater before, but I've discovered that I really like adding citrus zests of various kinds and also ginger in recipes now (I used to just omit that). This handy tool works really well, I was able to quickly grate some ginger root and lemon rind to test it out. It is sharp so grating was easy, and the blades are small so only the zest of the lemon, not any of the bitter white part of the peel, came off. This grater feels durable, and the handle is thick and comfortable to hold (I tried it at an angle on the counter and also over a bowl). The food mostly falls off as you grate but what does cling to the back is easy to wipe off (and use). It was very easy to clean (handwashing only with just soapy water) and one of the best features is the plastic cover that keeps the sharp side of the blade protected, as well as protecting your fingers when reaching into a drawer to get it out. The cover snaps on securely enough not to fall off while stored. I am quite pleased with this useful cooking tool and look forward to using it frequently, especially during the holidays when so many recipes call for fresh grated nutmeg. It's not real big, doesn't take up much space - everyone who cooks should own one!

So for starters I have always used a box grater, so using this was a bit different. I did find it a bit trickier to use when zesting my lime. I did find the lime kept getting stuck or getting my hand caught because the grates seem fairly deep and and more of a square shape. The grate measures about 11" x 1 1/4". It has a plastic sleeve to protect it. It's easy to take off but more work to put it back on. It is lightweight but feels cheaply made and not durable. I did find that the lime zest clumped together not really giving it a nice look.
